New budget spl project - 1000w amp but what subs?

Im picking out new subs and building a new box looking for some ideas or recommendations. I plan on using the entire hatchback area in my golf so I can fit 2 15s or 18s or I can go with 4 10s or 12s easy enough. Not worried too much about SQ looking for max SPL for street beat. Amp is a Alpine MRD 1005, what would you run with this amp?

theres a great 18'' available in the for sale section if you wanna pay shipping

thanks fresh1 that could be 1 option. Do you recommend 1 large sub over multiple small subs?

for me its a toss up. I'm not really an spl guy, I just know what I know from here. I will say that bass, all sound really, its just moving air, and the more surface area you have the more air you can effectively move. of course things like power, enclosure, loading, all that stuff also plays a huge role, but if you do some simple math it gives you an idea of how much air you can move, but then it becomes trial and error. to put it into perspective though, an 18'' circle has more area than a 15'', two 12''s, nearly the same as 4 10''s.

more subs more cone more bass, but for an spl build its questionable, somethings work better then others

I'd go with a loaded 15" Fi SSD or BL. I think that amp will do 1000w into 2 ohms?

Should be plenty loud in the right enclosure.

You want your final load to be 2 ohms. So if you go with one sub, daul 4 ohm or if you goth two subs dual 2 ohm. My suggestion would be 2-12s or 1-15 in a big ass box with lots of port area.

Thanks for the input guys. Has anyone had experience with diamond d3 15s? Im thinking about picking up 2 of them. I just happen to be running d3 coaxial's. Forgot to mention the area Im working in is 18x18x36 and I will be building a basic L port box sub up port back. My main focus is moving more air aiming for blurry vision and getting difficult to breath hopefully not 100% sure the mrd will get me there but I would like to run it.

With that kinda space, I would suggest a pair of 12"s.

Are you open to buying online? Local? New or used?

And to green hornet I got your PM but Im a noob don't have the 10 posts yet to reply or something like that. I have a 1992 4dr. vw golf, alpine cda 9884, diamond d3 coaxials 5 1/4 upfront, infinity reference 4x6 in the back, alpine mrd 1005 currently burning up a single 12" type r in a small L port box. The car is a daily driver but I don't mind using the entire trunk its 18x18x36 what set up would you recommend for this space and power?
