New Termlab sensors?
#5
if they were comming out with new sensor it wouldnt be a one liner somewhere on some forum. it would be all over termpro and people would be buying them like hot cakes. its the same sensor with an increased threshold.

i was talking with 1 guys from team jbl in regards to how loud cars are getting and he stated that there will have to be a major rethinking of how to get loud for anyone ever to get over 185. he mentioned to me a way that jbl has experimented with a radical new idea that if they can make work, will change the way everone gets really loud. the idea makes total sense to me being a non spl oriented guy. they, jbl, have done some prototype work with this idea with very encouraging results. this guys is an accoustic engineer with more phd's than i could remember, so i tended to believe him. he said that if done right, and the mathematics could be figured out and the program to figure it out be written(aka tons of $$$ thrown at it) 195db could be achieved with a 8" woofer and 500 watts. if anyone is interesed i can share with you my conversation with him

due to the pm's ive gotten this morning regarding the above post
the idea is based on a parabolic dish. a sattelite dish focuses a small amout of energy onto a small lnb on the order of 70 to 80 times the initial signal. if you could use a parabolic dish in vehicle to focus the energy of an 8" woofer onto a dish and amplify that little bit on energy on the order of 70 or 80 times, you could rewrite the way people go loud. the issue is the the mathematics, program writing, and testing that is involved is monstrous, aka tons of $$$$. the math comes in the design of the dish and the distance to the pressure sensor. neat idea, and if anyone will do it i think jbl could, anyway, the gentleman i spoke with is on of the most inmtelligent poeple ive ever talked to
