Own a subwoofer enclosure, will new amp make it more powerful?

Hey,

I was jus wonderin' I have a Enclosed box in my trunk with 2, i beleive CL Series Kaption Audio (12Inch) Subwoofers.

Running through this kaption audio amp:

HO 80.2 2 Channel Amplifier

HP/LP/BP Built in Crossover
Selectable 12/24db Crossover Slope
2ohm Stable
RCA Inputs: 2, RCA Outputs: 2
Oversized Power and Speaker Terminals
80 watts RMS x 2
250 watts total RMS power

My question is, if I want more pound in the subs, or more power, if I change my amplifier to something stronger, than its running through will my subs work better? Or do I just need better subs?

your subs are decent i would suggest just upgarading your amp to something a little bigger say to 1000 max or you could get a new different box. Is your box sealed, ported? and how big is it. Your box can make a big difference.

I bought it off the guy that deals Kaption Audio, so im not sure what you mean ported or sealed... let me describe what it is:

Box, in the middle there are 2 holes, one below the other. (when subs play, air comes out) I beleive its called, ventilation.

The 2 subs are screwed in, left, and right side, havin the 2 holes in the centre.

The rest is all closed....

IF I upgrade the amp, to 1000WATTS, u think it shud do the trick? Thx for all replies btw.

Thumbs up

Yeah your box if ported. Upgrading your amp to 1000 will help but will only perform to the limits of your box. So do some reading on this site more about boxes and ports there are tones of topics, also if you want more help measure the outside of your box ( length x height x depth) and your port/air holes ( length x depth ) and reply back with that and me and others will let you know if that is a good box for your subs.

Okay, I have done some measurements, and drawn to best ability how the subs actually are with box dimensions as well as hole dimensions, the subs, are "SUBS" the port/vents are the Black Circles that are shaded in, and on the top left you will see the depth and the diameter.

If you can help me out regarding my question thx.

giving you subs their rms rated power will greatly improve their sound quality and quantity...300x2=600 watts rms, look for a good quality(brand) that delivers that power and you're good to go.
