Very nice... I did the same thing to a port back in '08... I found it a bit weak though so I also added some kitty hair on the back side for strength

My square port panda box used this method, I just closed the sides with plywood, taped ends and filled with resin and sand, so it ended heavy and rock hard.

lol, looks like the one I made a little while back. Assembling with CA glue and a lil activator makes for instant use. I made and installed it in less than an hour. I gained .3 using it. Only used a lil silicone to adhere it to the enclosure.

port walls are 1" thick using 1/2" mdf offset so each piece of the port interlocks to the other

also, the back wall of the box is 3/4 mdf and 1/4 reinforced resin, wire mesh stapled down and resin poured over
