So I just came in from working on the Cavy's box...In the dark...

I've recently attacked my first serious go at bondoing....ANYTHING!And so far,I'm quite happy with my results...

Thanks to my good friend Joe for taking this pic...I was just finishing up...

I never realized how dirty working with bondo really is....

And the results....almost done...

I'd like to get some thoughts on my work here...if theres maybe something more or less that I should or shouldnt be doing....But please no crude remarks...ok guys?

One week to go and tons to do still....

Next time dont mix the bondo on what looks like the bottom of a pizza box the card board will suck some of the water out of it and theres a chance it may not hold up as long as it could.

Also remember not too much hardner or else it ownt harden properly and will be a pain in the ass to sand.

Do slap it onto someones arm hair though...its a blast watching the faces they make when they try to pull it off :D

Thats actually a hunk of 3/4" MDF I mixed it on...It seemed to sand real nice....But like I say,I'm new to this and so we will see how it stands up and learn from there...

BTW,Logan..You coming out to the 3x show??

So went testing tonight....and here's what went right....

And now heres what went wrong..
Went down 1-2 db
Had a small electrical fire in my dash while testing
Had to stop on my way back in town to shift some weight around in the car only to discover, while on the side of the highway, that one of my battery connections had let loose...thus the db drop
And then...
While cruising down the road,an odd familiar smell happened...then smoke...me slamming on the brakes to get smacked in the head with an item that was on top of the box..jump out,run to the back, started searching in the dark for the culprut wire(I know which one it is)..got that taken care of,air out the car,got myself mobile again(Thank God everything still works! )roll down the window to finish airing the car, turn on the heater on defrost and here rattling then something hit the windsheild.Got home and found bits of charred something or another all over the dash.Took a look underneath the dash and my one remote turn on wire was nothing more than a crispy critter...all the way from the deck to where it dissapears from sight under the carpet..

It could have been alot worse I guess...and yes I do know what triggered it..but what exactly the CAUSE was I still need to look into..

I'm going to bed.. :(

Why do all you SPL guys run you ENTIRE system without fuses?

I had a close friend killed from smoke inhalation from a car fire.

for the same reason for the responses in the can i run 8 guage on a 1000 watt amp post
i adds up to a small voltage loss
which could mean the difference of winning and losing
this business lives on the overkill theory

Doh nasty!

Glad it wasn't catastrophic though, that would be REALLY bad.

Testing? With a mike even? Sure wish I had a mike handy yesterday when I hooked up & did a short test... Ah well, maybe tomorrow eh.

Hahaha Aaron if you didn't have bad luck you would have no luck.

At least no cops.

It's not the fact that they don't run fuses that gets them in this sort of mess, it's the fact that most SPL system mess of spaghetti wire is hacked in so bad. You notice it's not the power wire at fault it was the remote turn on. I would trust wiring like Tim Baillie's without fuses anywhere, I wouldn't trust most SPL systems even if they added fusing. I wish more SPL guys would do it like Chris Norris, he has some of the cleanest SPL wiring out there.
