ok here's the deal ..i was reading reviews about the kicker 10" L7's .. most of them, as expected, were very positive...but there was one person gave the following review ...."i have heard these subs and i am sorry to say guys that they are not that good, maybe for the everyday driver but in a competiton setting they are worthless"....so my question to you is...is there any truth to this review...given that the subs have the propper box and propper power running to them....would they be a contender in their class at competitions?..

Whoever wrote that is an idiot.

L7's are very well known for being one of the best subs to use in the street class.

Terry Brocks, consistently one of the loudest street A competitors, uses them. That's enough of an endorsement for me

how about the 8's...how do they hold up..i've got three of them on the way to me right now...and i have a 1500 bd ready to power them..

yeah man, I heard they are VERY LOUD for what you pay for, whereas they are well worth the money if your competing. Please dont get me wrong, but I hate their sound, I think they sound TERRIBLE, but they seem to be very very loud, no matter the box design. So I have two thumbs up for them in Competing.

The big time advantage that the L7's have is the gain in piston area over a round woofer. In street class there are very few other woofers out there that can match it for spl.(you'll see what it is when the season starts, Street A.) Not a bad street beater either. All around the guy that made that comment must have severe brain damage.

* NOT THE GUY IN THE MESSAGE ^^^ RIGHT THERE BUT THE ORIGINAL POST WHO SAID THEY ARE BAD FOR SPL*

Ive seen a few kicker drivers blown with rated power (good luck getting a recone)... and Ive fixed broken tinsel leads on a few L7s and L5s that shouldnt have broke/burned....

I know a few people that have had good results with kicker, and a few who haven't... one buddy in particular has had terrable problems with every single kicker product he has bought...

agreed..cant knock the sub..Im just not a big lover of kicker...and the main reason they do well in the lanes is because of the extra cone area...nothing more... to me it is almost a legitimate way of CHEATING... were supposed to be comparing apples to apples so why allow a square 10" play against a round 10" and be classed the same?

just my 0.02 worth
