hey, i was wondering what the world record holding spl level is...or the highest that you have ever heard of

Lethal 03-05-2005 03:14 PM

Well if I believed all the stuff I heard.....My last customer has a buddy who's uncles neighbor hit, like, 185db's with 2 12" Sony's on a Pyramid amp. It was hella loud.

To see some of the record holders, try this website...

wow you know what I think I have had that guys other buddy in my shop too!!!
The loudest score i have ever personally witnessed was at DB Drag finals in 2002 when team BS did a 177.7 on the old term lab. The highest scores that I have seen on the new termlab was in 2003 Superior Sound did a 174.4 in EXTREME 1, and then Steve Cook did a 175.0 at finals in 2004.

so if i were to tell you that a guy on the kicker website claims to be up at 190 decibels in a reg. cab pick-up truck ...you would laugh histerically?...because i did (laugh)

Chevy Man 03-05-2005 06:49 PM

since the team kicker van only did lik e 175 with 2 solo X 18's

PT-Chris 03-05-2005 07:11 PM

yeah I would laugh real hard. If that guy is doing that number he is creating a different atmosphere inside the vehicle. I believe that atmospheric pressure is 185-186 dB if my memory serves me correctly, and what mic goes up that high??

MTA 03-06-2005 11:23 AM

agreed with ya Chris... I get guys coming in saying they hit 160-170 with a single 10 " but have never even heard of an Audio Control or a termlab

Im just curious what Wayne is going to do when ppl get to just under 180dB again.. Im expecting to see 176-178dB on termlab this year...

come on.. I had a guy tell me that he was hitting 600 dB with his 50 soloX 18s in a civic (2 weeks after the release of the soloX when there weren't 50 sold worldwide yet) and his buddy was hitting 800 dB with 20 12" soloX's in a van (12" soloX wasn't even a rumor then) but he had more power and a ported box.

I don't know what's funnier, that he claimed all this BS, or that he'd actually think we'd believe him.

Oh yeah I love people like that, oh yeah they swear up and down that is correct and will argue with you about it, knowing the whole time that SPL is what you do!!! They think that because they made it up that they know more then you do.

Thats some funny $h!t...
