remote turn-on outside the car?

anyone have any ideas on how to do a burp from outside the car if you have the factory head unit? i have a line out converter that im using and wondering if anyone else has done anything like this. problem is im getting up to the 150db mark and anything about that IASCA will not allow you inside the car. ideas?

danyman 06-14-2009 01:08 PM

get a new deck. lmao. thats all i can think about

darb454 06-14-2009 01:10 PM

well thats the obvious easy way out. i love the deck i have 6 disc in dash mp3 player as well as i dont wanna lose my steering wheel controls

get a basic switch ... then make a line out side the car for the remote switch. I do the same thing for when my amps clip during my burbs. works well.

What about a track with 10-20 seconds of silence before the burp? Would that be legal?

darb454 06-14-2009 09:27 PM

the silence in the track would work but it would be hard to get the timing right.

i like menace's idea but what did you hook the switch up to the remote turn on? that could work

Also illegal for any of the street classes ;)

darb454 06-14-2009 09:35 PM

really?how are guys in the stock and street classes hitting 150+ then?

darb454 06-14-2009 09:51 PM

i see in the rules what you are saying, in that class you must remain in the drivers seat. but as an overall rule in all the classes you cannot stay in the vehicle if you are going to produce a score more the 150+. so does this mean this rule overides the other one cuz how else can you do it.

u joking, right?

they do it with a remote or a podium.

you did not even mention which class you are in............soooooooooooooo

most normal people use a podium while keeping the stock head unit in place.

with a remote

darb454 06-14-2009 10:21 PM

stock class 2. what do you mean a podium isnt that the same as a switch?

darb454 06-14-2009 10:23 PM

makes sense safety first if you are 150+ then this rule over rides the other one. so a simple switch going outside the cars should be legal then? ir does it have to be a remote?

Father Yuli 06-14-2009 10:26 PM

is a podium allowed in stock class 2 ?

im not sure how your set up does over 150 and you dont know what a podium is.

the answer to your question really lies in the rule book.

darb454 06-14-2009 10:29 PM

no idea what a podium is.. havent hit 150 yet but i should be doing it some time this year. the run book does not specify in detail how you burp you car at all.

darb454 06-14-2009 10:35 PM

ok no just read there now, i know what a podium is and no they are not allowed in stock classes, i have the stock CD player with a line out converter and i have no remote for the deck. i need to know if burp buttons or a switch outside the car is legal

Father Yuli 06-14-2009 10:49 PM

if u cant have a podium then you cant have anything else. rules should indicate that.

if you hit 150 in stock class 2 with a factory head unit i will be the first one to give u props. in all reality tho, i wouldnt worry about going over 150 too much with a factory deck and in stock class.

aftermarket deck is really the best way to go. second best way to go (if you really wanna keep the factory head unit) is an FM modulated CD changer with an infra red remote.

darb454 06-14-2009 10:53 PM

we did a swap out with a aftermarket deck just to see and it made no difference in SPl it just gave it better SQ. i hit 148 and now im getting rid of my 2 15's and getting 4 DD1508's and gonna try that out gonna go from class 3 to class 2.

so like you say if you are not allowed a burp button then i need to figure out some way to hook up a remote to a switch or something...

Father Yuli 06-14-2009 10:58 PM

no podium means NOTHING wired outside of the car.

like i said. you need a FM modulated CD changer with an infra red remote. Is this a familiar device to you or would like me to explain how that would work?

darb454 06-14-2009 11:00 PM

i get the idea what about something like this? just a key fob that operates a switch inside the car

UNIVERSAL 12 VOLT WIRELESS REMOTE CONTROL SWITCH RM100:eBay Motors (item 350204547216 end time Jun-19-09 19:59:23 PDT)

Father Yuli 06-14-2009 11:03 PM

yah that could work if you put it on the remote wire.

darb454 06-14-2009 11:04 PM

ya thats what i was thinking, i think i found a quick fix. perfect

n_o_s_21 07-04-2009 07:13 AM

I just read this thread.....that was going to be my idea as well..... you can pick those us at walmart, they are used for remotely tuning on fog lights, etc. I think it would work well, and would fall within the rules.....also congrats on nearing 150 in a street stock class. especially with a stock head unit.

darb454 07-04-2009 07:52 AM

ya got a remote actuator off ebay
