Im looking for a link or info for the rules on spl here in canada.

I was on the Iasca site and looking at thier classification system of:

Rookie 1 Class - 1 to 160 sq. in.
Rookie 2 Class - 161 to 260 sq. in.
Rookie 3 Class - 261+ sq. in.

Is that what we see around here or are their other formats.

I've never competed before and would like to next season. Any info would be great. Also around what do should people be hitting as a rookie in class 1, to be competitive?

theres no rules according to country. it goes by organization. you already have the IASCA rules. there is one other major one (and much cooler I might add) called Db Drag. it uses different measurement equipment. those rules can be found at Termpro, db drag racing, spl meter, spl car audio, loudspeaker systems, wayne harris

the street stock classes are the rookie classes for db drag anything around 140 can be competitive in that class

Thanks guys, with only half my set up and my mid bass amp running 1 used 12" I picked up and everything just thrown together I got 134.8. I'm gathering the rest of the parts for winter.

Have my 1500w rms mono coming, trying to find a bandpass x-over with out killing my wallet for 1 or 2 midbass woofers. And a new head unit.

Also I still am trying to decide on what class to run in. But I need to look at the db drag rules

thats a really good start , if u can get some termlab time you can test with seat placement and and box placement which is pretty key to gaining and tunning the amp to the freq of the car

You can get active crossovers for under $100 new, 3 way. Heck there's an alpine unit used on eBay for $30.

If your new head unit has the standard Xover functions for the front and rear RCAs, you can create a pass-band for midbass drivers with any standard 2 way out-board Xover such as an MTX RX01 or similar.

Use the rear outputs for the midbass.....set the HPF on the deck to around 80hz or so and feed that to the RX01. Set the LPF on the RX01 to it's highest value, usually around 400hz or so and voila! You now have an 80-400hz pass-band filter....:D

You may need to fiddle with these settings depending on what you are using for your mids and highs which will be running off the front outputs from your deck.

Ya I was thinking that. But Im running out of channels. I've got my four channel already running off the front and rear, the sub on the sub channel, so the mid bass amp will have to run off the pre outs off my sub amp.

Do you happen to have a link to the $100 midbass crossover?

All so I think I found my subs. I THINK I'm gonna run alpine r-series. 1 2 ohm dvc 15" for the rear, (or possibly 2 4 ohm dvc) and a 8" up front
