I plan on grabbing another pair of amps this summer, and with that in mind, I've began to wonder about subs as well. The four sundowns would probably burp say ~4kw or more, and I'm not sure if the SXs could take this much power, so SHOULD I:
1)Stick with the SXs and see if they can handle things
or
2)Sell the SXs and grab one big badass 15" driver that's strictly geared for SPL
I've only used the SXs once, and I KNOW they have potential, but I'm thinking it'd be cheaper to step up to something like an MT, BTL, APX, 9500 etc. etc. than to keep reconing blown entry level SXs (if they can't handle the power).
I know the twelves will have more cone area, but there's not much room in the trunk of my car and I'd be able to get a lot more port area with a single sub...

Yeah, I noted that, but the problem with the 12s in this trunk is that I have to really build a tight box to squeeze out any sizeable port... I want to try aero(s) but I don't think I can fit a 6" aero on the baffle, and a single 4" aero would be

I put together a forward firing daily driver box that was pretty much like a sealed trunk wall... it was pretty dissapointing, but could probably be better if I upped the tuning, sealed it completely and sealed up the rear deck somehow. Loudest yet has been CRX style though
