A STupid question!
Is It common when changing power wires to gain significant amounts? Only reason I ask, I had 2ga power wire in before,Didn't change a thing or settings on my amp or deck. I simple changed out to 0ga and added a 2nd run(1 positive and 1 negetive), went started up my car and at the same volume levels with my bass knob at full, I had to turn my amp down! Is this normal? I had a very good ground before, just wondering if 0ga makes that big of a difference? Its not like I added a few grams of magic dust to anything lol....Any feedback on this topic will be greatly appreciated.

put it on the meter

A 1.5V drop will probably be audible with an unregulated amp....
based on the resistance per foot I figure you could gain a maximum of 4db going from 2awg to 0awg... |
dont know bout meter wise wayne but when i went from 2 to 0 I noticed a big difference in gain too
|
I noticed a gain when switching the wire, i havent metered it yet either.

Larger wire tends to remove the bottle neck. More unrestricted voltage = more out put ect. Would you rather breath out of say 1 straw or a garden hose, then why. Same basic principal here. Metering will take the guess work out if it's truly louder. In any changing we ALLWAYS get a starting point with a meter. Kinda like a reference for the day/ line in the sand.

I turned my gains DOWN and my setup still seems louder !! oh well, I guess clamping it is the only true way to find out right? Thank you all for your input!! And making me feel like im not on Crack anymore
|
Well your still on crack :p

When it comes to power/ground wire.. the more the better :)
|
Yes I know the more the better :D less resistance, better delivery overall of power, Just didn't think that it would change this much!! Thanks again everyone! and STeve, I stopped doing/giving off crack for a few months now :P hahahha(when Ifound my belt)
