2 subs or 3 , big spl difference

l read here that a 3rd sub will only get you minimal db increase.
im using a sealed enclosure ,fosgate T1 10"
a one cubic foot box will play lower. if l go 3 subs it will be less box volume and not play as low but possibly louder.

any imput is welcome. on the fence 2 or 3 whats the plus or minus.
thx dave

if you are not making a big box to suit the subs needs it will not be too much louder.
if you are not going to get more amps to feed them more power, it will not be too much louder.

go for 2 subs and give them the proper box

spend more money on your box

boxes are the craziest part of working with subs by crazy I mean that you can see an amazing difference just by tuning it proberly. Tuning is not as easy as tightening a dial. Tuning is knowing what you want before you build/buy a box, then actually building/buying it correctly. It doesn't matter what you want, your going to have to sacrifice something (volume of music, quality, size of box, money). I suggest you do some research on the different types of enclosers and you'll probly end up buying a new ported box to get the best of everything without sacrificing too much money.

If money where no option there is a box for that too (passive radiator), that actually uses another speaker cone and surround (no magnet or basket) to act as a tunable port(by adding small amounts of weight to the cone). Yes, instead of a port there is another half-a-speaker (very cool). you can buy a pair of studio monitors by Focal that use a passive radiator for something like $14,000 (sm11's, I believe they are called, if you want to see a pict)
