Hey everyone hows it goin? Cruisin around today with the subs cranked. All of a sudden the bass level went down. A couple minutes later it went back to the level it was at. Has done this a couple times just wondering why its happening and what i can do to fix it.

 

are the subs the only thing amplified? if not then it sounds like your sub amp overheated and shut down until it cooled off enough to start back up.

next time it happens pull over as soon as you can and check the amp. if it's in protect that's very likely the cause.

 

yes its only powering my subs. Kenwood 1400w amp with 2 10inch pioneer champion series

 

Could be a bad RCA. Try wiggling them to see if you can make the problem reoccur.. could be the connection inside the amp or at the back of your radio too.

Did the base level go down ar shut off entirely? If it shut off entirely, check your fuse near the battery under the hood - could be loose. Happened to me once and I replaced my amp without realizing it was only a fuse (fuse itself wan't blown, rather it has cracked at the end and was loose)!!

 

had that happen to me as well, though i replaced the fuse before i even considered buying a new amp.

 

hahaha, this actually happens more than I thought... it happened to me once a few years back too, lol. I switched out the fuse first though...

If it's just fading louder/quieter... it's likely an RCA.

 

its most likely ur rca's i got that happen to me all the time...mine its the rca on the amp...its the output on the amp...it happens sumtimes on my deck too....almost time to upgrade.

 

It could be a number of different things, start with the obvious-amp overheating, then rca connections on the amp, then your RCA's, ground connection. Just start checking off the list.
