any tutorials here about how to setup an equalizer

I have been searching the forum for some topics about tunning your head unit equalizer for good sound quality specifically with a subwoofer. Some help would be appreciated on this topic.

thanks

it means R-real, T-time, A-analyzer. It's a fancy meter that measures frequency response using a microphone in the car while you're adjusting the eq bands. This allows you to see where the frequencies are causing a problem and adjust as required. Personally, I use my ears as that's all that matters for listening purposes. If you're planning to compete then that's a whole other world.

Adjusted the EQ accordingly to your what you want to hear! Best thing to do is just mess with it until you are happy with the way it sounds.

I think even for comps your ears will be the best tool. I mean, I'm sure the RTA will in theory produce the greatest scoring car, but I don't know if the judges get to use one while working. They have to go by ear as well. Your best bet, particularly if you plan on competing, is to get your hands on a scoresheet and build your system around it.

Yah I do plan to use my ears but I am just not a hundred percent on what each bar represents thats why I thought I can find some tutorial on what each one of them does from the perspective of one of the guys here. I did read about it online from ppl who mainly tune specifically to houses as locations or classical music which neither are my thing here.

Get ahold of BigRedGuy on here, he tuned my system by ear. Well 2 - 2nd and a 3rd place in SQ comps tells me he knows his stuff. He is also willing to help out members here.

the rta will tell you what frequency your car is not representing. your ears will smooth out the details. come out to a local show and sit in a few cars with a cd you know just to get a reference of what to listen for.

Each bar represents a specific center frequency.

"Tuning" a car is a multi-stage process. I could type out the whole thing but I'd really rather not......

If you can PM me with a phone number I could call Sunday morning I will have time to talk to you about your system, what you are hoping to do with it and how to accomplish those goals.

Failing that my driveway is a good place to do it if you can make it out to south Mississauga.....

HTH
