AVI 6.5" FRM vs. 6.5" BSM
Anyone on this board familiar with these two sets? Im looking for a side by side comparison. Differences between the two like; Midbass response, difference in tweeters (real-world comparison), dynamic capabilities, wattage, ect...
Any input will be greatly appreciated.

i have exstensive experience with both the frm and bsm. imo oinion the frm 160 is the best sounding midrange that avi makes in the 6'5". the bsm 160 is a very close second but suprpassed the frm in powerhandling and a slight advantage is midbass output but a sacriofice of good midbass attack. i attribute this to a less than optimized crossover on the frm. it comes with hf25d tweeter and the bsm direct comes with the hf30b. the 30b is a very laidback tweeter that suffers from a substantial lack of high freq. output but sounds better than the 25d, but the 25d will get crazy loud and still sound good/ in a perfect world, take frm160 pakage it with the hf25d, ditch the passives and use a good electronic crossover and a sensible install and youn will have a set of speakers that you could easily go head to head with a set of focal k2p's anyday, imo. for the record i have sold avi speakers for over 10 years, my opinions on based on actual usage in many vehicles, not voodoo, word of mouth or my guy feelings, right dukk

Oh - is one of those mids 5x the price of the other yet, by your description, they perform very similarly?

Dukk last year you were supposed to take on Dave in the lanes. I wonder if you will actually follow up on that this year.
And the trunkful of Crest as a prize should be sweet spoils for the victor...Drivin' away with Dave's Crest, now that's some kinda braggin' rights if your system truly derserves to win.
Why not limit it to the SQ scores only. I wanna know who's got the better sounding car at an event where you guys have got some experienced judges so there's no whining afterwards about a lack of competence in that department.
You know what they say about arguing over the internet... So put up!

^ And...who were you again? Some guy from the Island that nobody really knows with a list of equipment as his only credibility? So you are commenting why?
First, I never said I was taking on anyone but sure I wonder how my car would stack up against the most hyped car on this board. Secondly, like it even approaches being your business, my car was not complete until mid September last year - only hit one show, the morning after I turned the last screw, and Dave was in the middle of a dash teardown as I recall so he wasn't there. My competition year is this year, although it has to be split with my new project, so we'll see what happens.
Third - while it may appear to get nasty, Dave and I merely like banter. He calls me out like above and I put him down or vice versa. I don't lose any sleep on it and I assume he doesn't either.
I know - how about you put up and come whup us both? Then you can call me out, ok?

I am commenting b/c the tone of your banter is tiresome, predictable, consistently negative and borderline insultive when it comes to higher end gear.
Dave's on the other hand and most the most part is relatively neutral, and helpful, based on specific experinces. And no I don't know Dave nor have I ever met him. Call it the energy which eminates from each one of you...there is a drastically different air in the approaches.
Those who know me know I enjoy car audio as much as many of the people on this board, although I am the first to admit I don't have the kind of experience in application and in the lanes as both you and Dave, mainly due to a lack of facility to do work and more important priorities.
Since I don't proport to be "A False God of Car Audio" I don't have anything to justify to you or anyone else especially since I'm not the one constantly in everyone's face if they happen to have some nice equipment. Why is it you have bunk to say about equipment which is pricier than yours? Never tried any of the current stuff (except the PXA-H700) ?
I bring up hitting the lanes because you have always cared so much about making your point and always being right. Here's your chance... You will truly deserve the kudos when you actually do go out & beat the serious and experienced competition (not newbies with PXA-H900's). And naturally you'll do it with with no time allignment, no eq, and cheap speakers run off old amps. What happened to your idea of running passives and how adamant you were about the sound quality superiority of passives. Did practicality kick into the equation?
Hey it's friendly banter, with a bite
