AVI BSM for off axis
#1
Hey all. New to the board, didn't even know there was a Canadian sound board
Anyway, I am putting a new set of components in my car, looking at the AVI BSM's and also the SEAS Lotus Reference and Focal K2P's. The mid will be going in the door, and the tweet in the a-pillar so I am concerned with off axis response. I know the Focal's are awesome off axis, but not too sure about AVI... the Seas are supposedly not too hot off axis.
Any feedback?
Thanks.

i have used the bsm on many occasions and find the off axis response to be quite good, not great, but quite good, avi has a speaker designed for off axis response, its the mx130-5.25" and the mx160 6.5", are you going to be door mounting or off axis posd?

if you plan on using the passives that come with the bsm, the mid in door tweet in a pillar wont work ver y well cuz the bsm160 will not play very high well, above 4500-5000 hz, i use the bsm's in the doors of my neon and with a little time delay they are amazing. i can email you some pics if you want or do a search here under just finished project from april 11th and you should find the link

Diabolik, have you checked if the bsm's will fit in your door? I have bsm's but they are way too big for my civic to fit in factory location. I've played with them in multiple locations and they actually don't require much air space to sound good in a kick. I used the Tri-star BSM set so I ended up making a fiberglass add-on on my door to house the BSM's. Worked out well, but was quite a hassle. If you want, we can meet up and you can see if the speakers will fit before you actually buy them. Those HF30 tweets and xover that come in the set are awesome.
