Need help regarding FOCAL speakers
#1
Hi guys,
Please help me decide whether to buy the old 3 way Utopia or the 3 way K2P. I am confused which ones are better. Also, is the old Utopia subs better or worse than the new K2P subwoofers?
My local dealer told me that the K2Ps are better than the old Utopia line, but my guess is just that because they do not carry the old Utopia line anymore, so they try to sell the K2Ps.
Please help me decide. Oh, and i am looking for SQ.
Thank you.

The K2P set has a better and newer tweeter than the old Utopia set, and a far superior Crossover too.
IMO the K2P is a much nicer sounding speaker and had better midrange than the old Utopia set.
The K2P is more of a hybrid of the old Kevlar series and the old Utopia series.
On the cone - the outer layer had the Kevlar cone, but the back of the cone has the old fibreglass cone fron the Utopia series. So you get the best of both worlds. You get the stiffness of the Utopia speakers, with the better sounding mid range of the Kevlar speakers.
The crossover has so many more features on it, and sound adjustments. "If you can make these K2P speakers sound good in your car, you shouldn't be installing" - a wise old rep told me once........!!
Go for the K2P's in my opinion - I think they sound much better that the Utopia's - but either way you'll have a nice set of speakers.

Hi All,
I am new to this forum and I have been playing with car audio for over 15 years. I am from the soundstream days. Currently using Focal polyglass and for the price it is very good. The K2P is very good but too pricy. I know that there are better driver out there for less $$$ IMO.
