Best place to set my hpf/lpf deck or amp
Where's the best place to set my filters? I've got a kenwood excelon deck, a JL hd600/4 on my speakers and a hd750/1 on my sub. Where would be most accurate? Deck or amps? Right now it's set on my amps and set to through on my deck. Let me know which is better and why. Thanks

Set it on the deck it's easier and more accurate to set, also, if the deck have selectable slope be sure to set those as well.

I use the slope on my amp it's at 12db

The slope on the amp will only be in effect if you are using the filter on the amp.
If you use the deck filters then it should have either fixed or adjustable slopes, check the user manual. Typically, slope are set as follows. For the sub: lpf - slope 24 or 18 db/octave (24 is more commonly used). For the doors: hpf - slope 12 db/octave (most commonly used). |
Deck Doesnt have slope adjustment. No slope options at all. I guess I'll stick to setting my filters on my amps since they both have slope adjustment

get a decibel meter and a disc that plays frequency tracks. the slope and crossover points will reveal themselves as volume drops off relative to the settings u have chosen. based on volume adjusts
