Does anyone know where the CANTON QS 2.16 6.5 components would fit in with the Boston Pro's / Z's, Focal Utopia's / KP2's. etc?

I currently have boston pro's, but would like to upgrade to something like the focal utopia's or K2p's, just wondering if this particular Canton set is anywhere near?

Thanks in advance,

- DF

i prefered my cantons above most of those you mentioned.
they are phenomenal speakers, but will of course perform dependatn on application

Opinions are what they are but mine is that Canton can easily compete with speaker sets up to the $2000range. You can build a world class car with it.

True dat. Nice stuff. Something different from the mainstream too.

hmmm, aren't they home speakers?

Or do they actually make a set for the car?

I've heard them in a car once...I think it was in Michael Peckham's car if I'm not mistaken....they sounded....meh. I'll stick with my Utopia's....The car had great stage, and image, but the tonality wasn't what I'm used to I guess. Although, I haven't a clue what model they were or anything, but from what I heard, they don't keep up to Utopia's tonnally.

But indeed Dukk is right, world class cars HAVE been built with Canton....well, one that I know of ;)

BTW, I'm a bit biased, pretty much since I got started in car audio, I've been around Focal, I own Utopia's, which I LOVE. I know quite a few people with other Focal sets that sound phenominal as well.

My suggestion to your question is grab a Focal K2 set, they are equivelent to the Utopia set of past years (not the Be's) and that damn TN52 is just awesome, I'm actually thinking of swapping out my TN51's for a set of 52's because it really is the tweet that makes a comp set great.....good mids with garbage tweets, is a garbage set IMO. (MBQuart.....ooops :D )

they have been doing car audio ever since i can remeber over 25 years
not a well known company they are german
i don't think there has been distributor of the product in canada which could explain it not being well known

Kris Dancey 04-29-2005 07:56 PM

Uhh...they have had a distro for quite some time, far back as I can remember anyhow...

I preffer Canton over the Utopia's, a good friend has the 3 way set, beautiful speakers.

^ Korbon used to be the Canadian distributor. When they gave it up Smarketing took it as they were Korbon's largest dealer of Canton home but they sold NO car audio. When I checked a couple of years ago they still did not have and did not sound too willing to get the car gear - "Welllll, we could get it buuutt it's a special order and it may take time and... "

From the looks of the site they are either attempting to start bringing in the car gear or they are keeping their finger in it so nobody else makes a play for it.

Canton is excellent gear. As for your comments Brandon - I've heard marginal Focal setups also but I'm not about to make a decision from them. Although I suppose the life altering sound you got when you plopped your set into your factory dash openings firing right at the windshield is a showcase for the quality they can deliver eh?

You come off as an expert but don't even know brands or the market. Go read an internet page..

Kris Dancey 04-30-2005 09:05 AM

Really? The shop we deal with had no problem ordering car gear from them in the past...
