with components does woofer speaker act as midbass?
It plays all frequencies as determined by the high pass cutoff of the amp (or headunits) crossover and the lowpass cut off of the passive crossover (if so equipped). So it can indeed play midbass frequencies as well as midrange primarily. That said there is so much more to midbass response than the speaker. Predominantly it is how it is mounted and sound deadened that has the major effect on midbass reproduction. If your speaker is being amplified and it is mounted to a chunk of metal that flexes with every bass note, you are losing drastic amounts of energy that should be coming out in the form of sound. Instead that energy is lost to causing the panel to move and vibrate. Make the mount as solid as possible is what it comes down to for any speaker.
As far as Kicker goes, not my favorite but if it is what you have to work with then it is what you have to work with.
