Components vs front/rear speaker set up..

My name is Matt R from Halifax..

I've been into stereos for about 6 years only to realize I never left the beginners stages..

I would like to toast my set up & begin all over..

I have Pioneer rear 6X9's & Pioneer front 6.5's + factory tweets..I would like to design a mild sound comp/self enjoyment set up..

Allow me to explain what Id like them comment on my design..

I will buy a component set up which will include cross overs, tweeters & a
6.5" speaker to replace my curerent two way Pioneer along with a small 200-300W amp to power them..

Assuming I buy a brand such as Kenwood, Alpine or Pioneer in the $250 range for the component set up only will this reproduce sounds that are as great as the quality coming from the front & rear speakers now?

My rear speakers are very loud..My front are not..If I fade to the front it is very low..

I'm still not convinced that a front stage only will beat what I have now...

Am I correct with what I posted/believe?..

TY..

If most of your sound is coming from the rear, then a front stage only will sound better to MOST people instantly.

IMO, running a decent set of components up front, Alpine Type R for example, with 100 watts per side, will sound a great deal better than having most/all of your sound coming from 6x9s in the back deck.
But Im biased too, since I dont have any speakers behind me... rear seat passengers be damned.

The car is a 98 Civic Si

A judge at a sound comp gave me some excellent cirtisim such as my low quality front end..I rarely have ppl in they back so they are not a concern..The example that continues to haunt me is the comparison of car audio to a concert in which all the sound comes from the front..

A good front components with decent power is your best choice. If buget allows add a good sub too! IMO if you go with $200-$300 component sets you will eventually upgrade to higher ones no long in the future so if I were you I will save up more and aim for $500-$700 ones and be happy for many years to come.

I have 2 10" Kenwoods (2 years old) along with a 2 year old Kenwood mono amp in a pro. carpeted, ported box..

My set up combined with a Alpine 9815 (which I have absolutly no idea how to tune it--I'm used to 'easy' Pioneer decks..) produced a 138 db at a sound comp..for a beginner I was impressed..so called 'sound comp' cars were only hitting mid 140's..mind you--I'm sure the SQ was stellar..

I was going to extend my budget to get these:

Alpine 6.5 components with a crossover rated at 330W..Type R..$350 CDN...followed by a small 2-300W alpine, Kenwood or Pioneer amp..

I believe this sounds reasonable?
