comps / tweeter position
My system is nearing completion, and am looking at front comps right now.
One of the comps I was looking at are the Boston Acoustics PRO60SE. I notice they have the option of mounting the tweeter on top of the mid (terminology?) as well as separate. Which is preferred sound wise? I am guessing it is ~ 14" from the mid in the door to the sail panel where I would put a tweeter if separate from the mid.
It is all going in an 08 Cobalt. The other front comps I was looking at were Focals, and pretty much narrowed it down to those two, although not set in stone.

From what Ive seen, its personal preference. Some say its better to have the tweeter as close as possible to the mid for acurate imaging. Some prefer the tweets mounted higher to raise the sound stage closer to ear level. You can wire it all up and try it both ways using a temporary surface mount for the tweeters.
Also, a lot of aftermarket tweeters are too large to mount in the factory location on the a-pillar as is, from memory I think there are two mounting posts about 28mm apart.

^WRONG.............you can't make a general statement like that. It's been proven that you are incorrect many many times. Where do people come up with this stuff ?!?!?!??!? 
For absolute system tuning, the co-axial setup is preferred as it's a point source. Although with tuning, you can make the seperated setup work.

low tweeters low sound stage........ have you heard jerrards car... fenominal and his are in the kicks low dont mean nothing

low tweetrs aimed at the ground = a lower precieved image.... yes, but placed near a mid on the same plane taking into account the polar tilt of the tweeter in relation to the mids magnet........... can image very very nicely. remember the output of the tweeter is influenced by the magnetic interference of any speaker near it....thats why most people dont like side by side m/t combos (never ever in home audio), but perfer tweets under the mid..(ride em cowboy!) now placing the mids magnet and tweeters magnet on the same plane the out put of the tweeter is on axis..... now placing the t/m on a level plane with t. on top the tweeters output will be pulled down!!! and vice versa with tweeter below the mid!!! this phenomenon can be seen on an mylssa meter, now we have the imaging comming up but guess what.... dash, steering wheel, legs, centre council... ect ect ect.... so whats a guy to due................................... yep A-PILLARS... dont get me going on this one...

Can you ever truly have a real point source with two combined drivers ??? My understanding is the only way to have a true point source is one driver............ I'm not familiar with those Integra's.......... is the tweet travelling with the mid cone ?!?!
