i couldn't get the JL subs i wanted or the alpine amp.. it was too much and i didn't want to wait. I ended up getting an MTX Thunder 4250D, and an alpine sws 1041D

it calls for a sealed enclosure thats .6-1.25 cubic feet

what would you suggest as the best volume?

I'd go for ~1 cuft.

Good choice on the MTX amp, that little guy is quite under-rated. I was very impressed the first time I heard one.

Most manufacturers give a sealed enclosure range (ie 0.6 - 1.25 cuft). The sound does change a bit depending on the volume of the box. You'll usually get tighter and louder output from the smaller boxes. On the larger side, you will get a more extended low end.

What I usually do is simply select a volume right in the middle of their recommendation range. Be sure not to make a box larger than their recommendation, as you may get limited mechanical power handling (limited by excessive excursion in a large box).
