Im putting new 6.5 coaxials in the doors of my Accord. Should I Dynamat the door with the kit they sell at futureshop or should I just install them without it. I am putting 50W RMS to each door speaker.

Will there be a big difference in sound if I dynamat.

No you should go to www.b-quiet.com and get some of their products. Much cheaper. And you help support Wade who runs this board (if I'm not mistaken).

While the 12"x12" Dynamat squares in the Door Kit are not totally useless it is a better use of your time and money to treat the entire inner door skin

Get B-Quiet instead (did I just say that  ) . WAY better investment of your funds. Like DUKK said, put a piece behind the speaker on the outer skin. Also get enough to put a bunch on the inner door skin around where the driver is being mounted. Honda's are tin cans (no offense but it's true) and adding mass to these panels is a very good thing.

I've got dynamat in my saturn. Good and bad results. I bought the dynamat original wedge packs because I purchased them at distributor cost and they worked good for the rear dash and the sound was cleaner and less distorted. There were two disadvantages to doing it though. The bass from the subs was not as loud and when the original dynamat got hot it smelled like road tar for the first 3 months. I did go to future shop and pick up two extreme dynamat door kits and had a little extra left over. The road noise was down big time in the car and my speakers did sound cleaner, but I found the biggest thing I liked was that the stuff didn't smell. I didn't think it worked any better than the original it was that small thing that I liked and I felt it was worth it to spend the little extra cash to save the extra smell.

How long does it take to do this in the door?? Is the door the most important place to put the sound deadner, or in the trunk.

Team Shadow 06-30-2003 11:10 PM

i got 2 layers of deadliner everywhere. i mean everywhere, about $2000 worth. got a good deal on it though, and i didn't use dynamat, i used Phoenix Gold deadliner.

Team Shadow 06-30-2003 11:12 PM

oh sorry forgot to say, Phoenix Gold deadliner has no smell whatsoever.
