I've had a boner for 'em for the last couple of months since hearing a set of Grand Utopia's. Anyone heard them yet or know where and if they're available?
Thanks, Doug |

I'll be building a demo car to compete with the Focal demo car (southern china) in the very near future. I'll keep you posted on my listening comparisons. Looks interesting.

Hey, Sweetnlow91sc. Glad to see you're posting again. I was just talking with Clarence last week at his Richmond shop. He listened to my system and suggested me go to the Revscene show this coming Sunday. My system looks like crap, but has potential in SQ. Maybe I can get you to help me out with tuning the thing. As of last month, I am no longer in denial -- my hearing has deteriorated so much over the years. I still enjoy listening, but.......
Damn old age........ youth is truly wasted on the young. Anyway, maybe meet up at Timmy's one day this week? If not, no big deal, I can always shoot for Timmy's show in late September. Sorry for the hijack |

Paul,(what'e his face), at Audio to Go has the 165KP on his demo board. They do sound nice but the BE's are much better. After listening to the BE's driven by the Thesis at Axis, I switched to the K2P's and I was shocked. There is so much music that us poor folks don't ever hear on our budget restricted systems. I am not sure if the experience was a pleasure or poison. I want a pair of BE's real bad now!

I believe the Thesis have large contibution to the details in the sound. and listening through a good pair of speaker (Focal Be) is like looking through a clear lens upstream to the music... (Spr> Thesis> Source). Also I was finding the K2P was actually sounded coloured in the mid when compared to the Be.
Unfortnately the price on these equipment are not really practical for most music lovers..... But these are reference level stuff... [ August 24, 2005, 09:58 AM: Message edited by: SweetnLow91SC ] |
Okay so all the gushy reviews on the sound of the speakers and amp.......but did anybody consider if the speaker, power or RCA cabling may be coloring the sound too......or the source....or the sources' d/a converters...or...
Was this review of the Thesis in direct comparison to something else on the board or just listening to the one board itself with only the single source, amp and drivers on it? |

Power Cables are all by Audison tin/copper type with very flexible insulation. RCA/Speaker wires are also from Audison. There's also a switcher in line that could cause sonic degradetion. (RCA/Spr) When I do evaluations on sound boards, I usually look for potentials of the equipments performance. I have requested to hear the TRU hybrid vs Thesis in the set-up (to eliminate a variable). but they wouldn't do it... atleast not during business hours.(appointments only) [ August 24, 2005, 11:53 AM: Message edited by: SweetnLow91SC ] |

Now if I am to promote products that I represent here, you should have heard the soon to be released Hertz Mille mid tweets I listened to. sorry couldn't resist. |
I heard the Be's in a demo car in Vegas in January. Tonally they were excellent - but the car was using a stock head unit, so the imaging was shabby at best.
Dynamics and frequency response were excellent - I wish I could hear them in a 'perfect' setup with 9990 or 9255! |
Where abouts was the tweeter installed in that car? (A-piller, doors, kicks?)
|
if I recall correctly, the A-pillars and the mids in the corners of the dash...
