Front Stage Amp suggestions please

Hello,

I'm looking for suggestions for a new front stage amp. My last one was a PPI PCX280 that I really enjoyed. I like a smooth, well controled, fast reacting amp. I'd be willing to give up some top end for imaging, but not too much. I do NOT like a bright sound, I'd much prefer a more layed back even warm sound.

I'm using a Kenwood Excelon KDC-X590 head unit (24 bit DAC's) and Boston Pro 6.5 components. I'm entertaining the idea of upgrading the components too, but that'll be another day.

Price range, well I've got an amp in there now that keeps the music playing. It sounds like crap but if you've got a suggesion that's hexpensive, mention it anyway. I'd rather save a little while and enjoy the end result than waste my money on something I don't really want.

Thanks for the help.

Would the 350.2 be the kind of amp I'm looking for?

Are you sure your asking about an amp and not speakers?

I don't know what amps you have been listening to that modify's the sound so much. If your not going to be using unboard xovers or processing at the amplifier level, I can't see there being that much of a difference outside of an adequate power rating.

Get any decent brand that can put out the rms power you want. I don't believe amps sound differently, at least not well built ones, but if you do, then I suggest you audition them and decide for yourself. Some good brands from my experience are; Rockford Fosgate, MTX, Alpine, Kenwood, Audison, Arc audio, Kicker, pioneer, and many other brands that are used by members on here. Those that I've mentioned I've actually used at some point and offered excellent reliability, and did their job effortlessly. Honestly, if you're on a tight budget Pioneer and Kenwood offer the best bang for the buck!

I have heard many amps with same speakers. Different brand amps do sound very different. Much like home receivers/amps. Differences are very noticable most of the time.
