I know its not car audio related but I though some of you SQ guys could help me. I'm looking for a set of good Sound quality headphones. I'm looking to spend up to a $150. So far I've looked into Grado SR60, Sennheiser HD 497, and Sony V6's. I was wondering if anyone had any comments or recomendations. Also I'm trying to find a place to buy them(perferably in Saskatoon)or possibley online in Canada.

I really like my Grado SR60's.

How comfortable do you find them?

CasinoGreek 01-07-2005 09:15 PM

grado is top dog in terms of bang for your buck, the SR60s are great, the SR80's are amazing....nothing under 300$ sounds as good as the sr80s

Where can i find grado's in Canada and how much should i expect to pay for a pair of SR60 or SR80s?

Personally speaking, if I could I'd get a set of Stax Electrostatic http://www.mori****a.net/ headphones, they make several models.
Sennheiser would be my next choice( I like the "open air" approach"), AKG being a close 2nd to that. The Grado's are nice as well, I haven't tried them on since they came out long ago, but I found them uncomfortable,

They are quite comfortable but my ears get hot after extended listening.
I also purchased a little headphone amp from Radio Shack http://www.radioshack.com/product.as...5Fid=33%2D1109
and am blown away by the sound quality of this very inexpensive setup. I would highly recommend this little headphone amp paired with Grado SR60's.

Well I ordered the Sennheiser HD 497, I seen alot of good reviews for them and they were easier to find in Canada. Bought them from http://www.NCIX.com if anyone is intrested. Thanks for all the help.

go to www.head-fi.org for all thing related to headphones, earphones, dedicated headphone amps, etc. I have found the ultimate in ear canal phone the Westone UM-2. This offer isolation of 15 db from the outside world, they are a 2 driver/channel earphone and of course they sound unbelievable - the bass is the most amazing part. I've previously owned Senn HD600 and I still own the superior sounding AKG 501 phone

info on the westone here:

I really like my Grado SR60's.
X2

nice all around cans
inexpensive too
they could use a little more HF extension and a little more sub bass definition (quantity of bass is great) super for the price

^ BTW I bought a set for my son, the new ones are more comfortable than the old ones (might have sounded better too)

The Stax cans are friggin good too

WOW $329!!!
For half that you can buy your self a set of Senheiser earbuds and have your local hearing aid clinic custom make molded earplugs for you (with the erabuds molded inside).

How do I know this....???
Cause this is what I do!

And your right best earbud sound byfar.
