Depends on what you want to know. My opinion is you want to make the music are "real" as you can. Like you were in the recording studio when the album was made. Everything should be perfectly focused and placed on a 3D stage. Almost like the band was playing in front of you. If you close your eyes, you should be able to tell me exactly where each singer and instrument would be. Not just in relation to width but also depth. If a singer is in front the the drummer, you should be able to tell.

That's me.

sound quality is personal, what sounds good to one may not be to the other.....sq is whatever "you" think is good sound....you cant be told what sounds good....you have to judge for yourself......fozz likes things by the book.....i on the other place tonality, aka does a piano sound like a piano, drums like drums etc....as far more important than stage placement.....is fozz wrong.....no....but that what good sound quality is to him

avidedtr 01-16-2009 05:52 PM

x2 with Defro, I like my music to just like it came off the reel to reel. Raw and with an edge that is LOUD + CLEAR!

AAAAAAA 01-16-2009 06:01 PM

Fozz distinctively made it clear that it should sound as real as possible defro, it's just that he also likes good imaging. Why not both?

defro13 01-16-2009 06:13 PM

nothing wrong with both, tonality to me is harder to achieve than stage placement.....so when im listening to a car stereo and one has better tonality than one that may have better imaging and staging.....to me the better sounding car is the one with better tonality.....if the stereo has both.....someone did a good job

fozzz 01-16-2009 06:56 PM

If you don"t have both, you did a bad job IMHO. That's not to say everything has to be perfect, but great tonality without any imaging just wont do it for me. The same goes for imaging without tonality. Most of us have one seat car, so with that said, have a little of everything should be pretty straight forward to accomplish. Its the little details that are really hard to do.
