JBL 660GTI vs Hybrid Audio Clarus C61-2
Which set out of the two would you choose?
With GTI I wasn't planning to use the waveguides. I drive a 2000 Golf, and either set will go in stock locations with mids on the door bottom, and the tweets by the sideview mirrors(of course I expect small fitment mods there).
I need them to pound loud and clean. I am pretty sure JBL's mids should pound nicely, but I am not sure if Clarus mids are strictly SQ with not much output.
Your opinions please...

Your not comparing apples to apples here. The 660GTi is a high end and high dollar component set. The Clarus is the entry level set from Hybrid Audio. You should at least be comparing the L6's or somthing. In this case it should be a no brainer, JBL wins hads down.

Thanks guys for your replies. I have my reasons why I am comparing these particular sets. I have been told, that even if you compare Legatias, JBL still is a better set. My only concern is the JBL tweeter sound without the supplied waveguide, which I was not planning on using. Apparently it makes a big difference, but I was hoping they would still sound very good.
On another note, Scott Buwalda of Hybrid seems like a really good guy, and I would not mind giving him business, but it seems if I can get my hands on the JBL set for a reasonable price, I will go for that.

By the way, there is a group buy on Hybrid Audio on SSA forum. The group needs only 3-4 people now to get 25% off any Hybrid product. I was looking at the Clarus line which is $500, and with the discount it would cost $375. Check it out.

I think the Legata and the uber JBL are a little closer performance wise than that ... but one has a passive xover and one not (are you ready for active?). Their sound is very different so to each his own both are awsome in their own way... I tend to avoid hype and trendy products and neither is going to be in your local shop in any sort of volume

I am active right now actually for about two weeks. I am having a bad first experience, and I am giving up, and going back to passive. Dont try to change my mind This whole thing left bad taste in my mouth.
Looks like I am just going to get both Clarus and 660GTI, and take it from there. I have a nice 2008 CDT ES-010 tweeter(thanks to Ross on CCA), and might get a pair of ES-07's so I can say I gave CDT a good chance. I think I may even be very happy with top of the line CDT, but these other two sets are priced lucratively, so I will play around. Getting my hands on JBL physically is still up in the air though. Working on it.
Thanks for your help, guys!
