Latest toy, the ARC 10D4.. *pics*
After taking a closer look at my trunk, I decided that the IDQ15 would be too difficult to use in my car. As I mentioned in a previous thread, it is not the enclosure volume, but rather the diameter of the sub. I may still give the IDQ15 a try in an IB setup, but even that may be difficult with the limited height available in the trunk.
I used to own an IDQ10 which I really liked, so I thought I may go with another single 10. Tom recommended I check out Arc's line of subs, which are essentially just re-badged IDQs. I was lucky enough to find a great deal on one. Not too shabby for $110 Canadian after tax and shipping . As you can see in the third picture, there is a small dent in the frame. I tested it pretty thoroughly, and it sounds as good as new. I may try to bend it out a bit, but I'm worried that I may do more harm than good. Anyone have any suggestions? Other than that, it looks, and functions like new. Even came in the original box with spec sheet.
Upon initial listening, it had the familiar sound of the IDQ 10 I loved so much. Still one of my favourite subs. Quick and responsive, with great lower frequency reproduction. I must say, ID should have used those push terminals on the IDQ v2's. Very easy to use, and they hold the wire quite well. I hated the clip on terminals on the older ID subs. I believe the ID v3 series uses these same terminals now.
Pics Below: Big brother IDQ15 compared to the Arc 10D4. Quite a difference in cone area eh? Third image shows the small frame dent.

Do you know if the Arc 10D4 is the exact same driver as the IDQ10 V2D4? The reason I ask is that the Xmax on the Arc 10D4 is listed as 12.3 mm where the IDQ10 V2D4 is listed as 13.2 mm. There are also other differences such as sensitivity and system parameters...
They do bear a striking family resemblance however...

So what does Arc actually make? I believe it has been proven that their amps are rebadged Clarions, and now their subs are ID...do they actually make anything?
