Looking to put a lil' Thump in my new ride

We'll I just bought a 1973 Nova, I've liked the way these cars looked for a long time
http://161.58.88.165/7eoAuaE7iAa4/M10114.1.jpg
Thats Basically what it looks like, Although different Rims but similair looking

My problem is i'm looking for a decent whole setup,
2 6x9
2 Tweets
2 Mid's
and of course 2 Sub's
And i'm going for sq primarily
Music Taste's are Rock, Metal basically

My question's are
1.) should I go everthing one brand or mix and match?
2.) has any1 seen thoose Volfenhags in action? (they look beautiful x.X)
3.) L7's are they really that good?
4.) Should I got with MB Quarts heard alot about them
5.) Any other pieces I should get (mids, tweets etc)
6.) Anything else i should know?

Thanks for taking the time to respond in advance.

why the 6x9s

Nova454 08-02-2007 03:39 AM

I was under the impression (basically because more car manufactors do this) 2 tweets in the front usually in the columns, 2 6x9's in the doors and 2 6.5's in the rear quarters, at least thats what car manufactors do... In there premium packages (infinity for dodge etc)

I have read numerous times that 6x9's aren't that great for acurate sound due to the oval shape vs a round shape like most speakers.

i would make it so i can get my 6 1/2 and my tweeter in that space
and i think that car has 6x9s in the back deck not the rear quarters

if money wasn't an issue, I'd do the whole thing with JL Audio equipment, a 4 ch and mono block, use the 13" W7 for bass with a 1000/1 amp in a HO box. I can only sugest things that work damn good, not going to comment on small speakers or deck as I'm less profcient with those. I love my JVC deck but haven't heard anybody else say its good so I must be the only one.

for your classic car

Go old school.
You can find some real nice decks and some wonderful amps for a fraction of the price of today's crap.
speakers I would go with new as I never buy used speakers.
good luck buddy.

I would go with an entire Alpine system. Pretty good bang for the buck  .
