I am going to fiberglass my rear back seat area, and will be installing 2 subs.

I will be using my Audison SRX-3 for both the front component set and the subs.

The fiberglass enclosure will have quite a bit of area...so I don't forsee that as being a hinderance of any sort. I am sure the issue will be choosing the right subs considering the power output of the amps sub channel.

I need some suggestions on what size, and make of subs to purchase....I really want to avoid having to use a separate amp for the subs, and am looking for good SQ.

I am not sure if it matters, but I am using CDT Audio ES-620 Components for the front.

Any suggestions?

Thanks!

Anyone???

How much power is that for the woofers??

I have the SRX-3 driving Focal 165K2P's up front and a Focal Polyglass 27V2 sub in a sealed enclosure in the back. Not sure that the SRX-3 could power two subs, but for my purposes it works great. I'm glad I put morre $ towards the speakers and saved a bit going with the SRX-3. Really can't imagine much better sound spending 2X the money on power. I haven't heard the CDT's so I can't comment on what would be a good match.

Thanks for replying Dukk.

The specs for the amp are as follows:

2x75 + 1x250 Watt rms @ 4 ohm
2x65 Watt rms @ 4 ohm + 1x340 Watt rms @ 2 ohm
2x110 Watt rms @ 2 ohm + 1x220 Watt rms @ 4 ohm
2x95 + 1x315 Watt rms @ 2 ohm

Thanks Magicrat....

What size is the Focal 27V2?

Magicrat 08-09-2005 05:58 PM

27cm which is about 11".
Depending on the box size you can set it up for faster or deeper bass.
If you go a quick search you will find lots of recommendations on subs depending on if you want SQ or SPL.
Image Dynamics was another choice I seriously considered. They make nice subs.

I picked the best installer I could find in the Ottawa area and then went with the products he was authorized for.

If you want good SQL, look for a sub that is more rigid with less throw compared to others. One example is the Aline R-Type - but you won't have the power for two of these. The Memphis M-Class 12 inch and 10 inch subs are rated at 200 RMS each and sound great with limited enclosure space and would be a very good match for that amp. For the money, it is tough to find better SQL subs than those (about $200 each). If you have two in the car, you shouldn't have any problems with SPL, but if you want pure SPL then maybe these aren't the right sub for your car.

By the way, I am thinking of an Audisson SrX3 for my wife's truck - how much did it cost you??

Also, are your subs going to be forward or back firing?

So you have 340 watts to share between a pair of 4ohm woofers.

I would choose a pair of midlevel 10" 4ohm single voice coil woofer. Stay away from cast frames, huge surrounds, giant magnets, etc. Sure, those are nice features if you have 4x the power you do...

If I had to recommend something it would be:

MTX MZS, 5500, or 4500 woofers

RF P2 woofers

IDQ woofers

I paid $665.00 + taxes for the amp last summer.

The subs are going to be forward firing.
