Need your help choosing a sub

I know this topic has been beat to death. Unlike most posts in here, I want a true SQ sub. I am running dynaudio 3-way components with 8" mids so I want a 12" sub. For power, I am running a McIntosh 6-channel amp, with 4 channels bridged to 2 (50 x 4 to 200 x 2), and then bridging the other channels (100 x 2 to 400 x 1)

Here is what I am working with:
400 watts at 4 ohms (2 or 8 ohm DVC or 4 ohm SVC)
~.9 cuft fiberglass enclosure (sealed)
12" sub wanted
< $400

Here are subs that Ive had, and what I thought of them:
- Aura Force 12 - I liked it. poor design, but had clean sound.
- Treo SS 12s - Very loud but not what Im looking for now
- JL 10w6v2 - I liked them, but want something more unique
- JL 12w6v1 - Once again, very good, but too ordinary

I am looking forward to hearing what suggestions you guys have. Please, no SPL subs, I have been there and done that, not interested in this anymore.

TC Sounds Epic subs thrive in small sealed enclosures, fantastic low end extension and is inexpensive. If you were going ported I would have said SSA DCON's.

How does this sub perform compared to the old school eclipse aluminum cone subs? the basket looks similar, obviously a different material for the cone.

I have no experience with eclipse woofers but if you can find T/S for eclipse woofer you can graph it and make a comparison.

I'm not a huge fan of comparing the T/S as specs don't tell the entire story. I will try to find them, but I do better with sound of ear. It seems that T:S have become important now that car audio is primarily online rather quality local shops and very magazines review products anymore.

Thanks for the help everyone. Keep the input coming. It's Fonda be a little while before I'm in the market for a sub as I'm working on installing my other stuff still.

Judging by the amount of power you are providing I think you're going to need a fairly efficient subwoofer. Most modern subwoofers are pigs for power. Without knowing what your application is its hard to suggest a subwoofer. From the subwoofers recommended, I would second the Dayton. Excellent sound and very affordable.

How are CDT subs? There's one for sale on woofersetc called audiophile excursion. Looks ok but I don't know these days.
