Alpine pxa-h701 worth it?

Hey Everyone, Long time lurker...First time poster.

2 questions.

I was wondering if I should get the Alpine Pxa-h701 and if it would hook up to my Alpine CVA-1005
I can't see a prob being they both are AI-net.
The reason being is because it has EQ and X-over already built into it, So do you think it is worth it to sell my old EQL/X-over and clean it all up to get this or just keep the current system as it's not really worth it and keep the old stuff going? I mean I have a pretty clean sound now, but you know. It's better to keep everyone on one unit right?

I currently run an old audiocontrol eqx audio control equalizer
and a Pioneer Subwoofer X-over

I have one and the rux control unit. If you like tweaking, it's fantastic. I can't say how it works off the head units, but with the controller it's really easy to use and very convenient. I can alter xo points and change slopes while at a light and get immediate feedback. Everything is within a fingertip away, full control of which speakers are on/off, levels, xo points, slopes (6-30dB's), phase, 1/3 octave eq's, parametric eq's, not to mention the 5.1 capability. i'm not sure there's much more you can want or get in an audio processor. The only addition I would like to see in a future product is a 3-way output for the front, 2-way for the rear, f/r center outs....6.1 dolby and 13 channels.... and IMPRINT capabilities. That would be a complete unit!!

If you want to stick with Alpine and want dashboard tunability the H701 is THE way to go.

I don't know if it will work with your deck, I almost think that the controls are only compatible with IVA series touch screens and the RUX-C701.
Call Alpine to make sure that you will be able to control the H701 from the screen.
I think ALL Alpine ai-net decks can send signal to the H701, but the IVA-W200 is a great option because you get optical signal out.

For what it's worth, a IVA-W200 or IVA-D310 plus H701 combo can be gotten from the states for around 700-800$.

Heck, a guy on here has an IVA-D310 for sale, but with a faulty dvd transport. Just buy a cd changer to put in your glovebox and an Ipod cable.

All that being said...

The H701 IS overkill if you are only going with a 2 way front stage, but once you consider a 3 way front stage, or 2 way + rear fill it becomes a nessescity.
Personally I'd MUCH rather have too much tuning ability than not enough, and I definitely prefer having it controllable from my seat.

Thank you for the reply's fella's. I will be stickin to 2-way front stage and as much as I love the fact of the curve of the tuning, It isn't compatible with my cva-1005, I am to cheap to spend on a new one and I can't see myself buying another unit for it. Worth it, Don't get me wrong. But I just want one head unit to do all. I suppose I will stick on getting the older PXA-H510 Model...

You could also look into the PPI DCX-730.
Does almost all the same things as the H701, has it's own remote control and will work with pretty much any deck that has RCA outputs.
Usually go for $250-350 from places like Diyma forums.

I don't believe the h510 does crossovers, although it does a really nice job with dolby sound and equalizing.

its the best for the money, next to the F#1, alpine all the way!!!!! The Pioneer p9 combo is nice as well!!! Audio control is crap, to much noise, not as much flexibility as the 701.

^ Agreed. If the MS-8 ever makes it out or RF upgrades the 360 to 4way capability then Alpine will have some competition but right now, IMO, there is none.
