Choices, choices, choices...
Alright.. I'm looking to do an upgrade on the front-stage, and here's my options.
Right now I have DD 6x9 components... The tweeters are god-aweful, but the mids are alright.. As for the choices.. I am looking for Hertz stuff only. This because I've had great luck with them, the warranty is awesome, and I have financing at the store. So.. I could just replace the tweeters with the mille M280(s) or the M500R (ribbons).. I could just buy the MLK 165 set and be done with it..
I love the bass responce from the hertz woofers. But I also enjoy my DDs.. I know that the Hertz will be a lot better, but is it worth it?
Or should I just buy the seperate tweeters, and slowly upgrade to all the good stuff (three-way system). The high end mille stuff.
opinions? I'm really stuck about what to do.

The Hertz Mille are really smooth sounding speakers. Very exotic if I may say so also. I don't run them, but they are quite the speakers. Definitely among my choices though, just like focal's higher end stuff. Actually, I believe the Mille line was introduced to compete with rainbow's high end stuff and the focal utopia be line.
A lot of people will tell you to fix any problems with your current setup. Once you get everything right, tear it out and start all over again with new equipment.
In all honesty though, I'd save up for the Mille. But obviously you should do what your most comfortable with. If you find that your current setup suites your taste, then you should just keep it and save yourself the money and the hassle.
If you;re crazy about audio and SQ and you're also on a budget (students like myself are ALWAYS on a budget), you'll get something you can afford which also sounds decent (like your current setup) and then gradually save up for what you really want. At least thats what I did... and I'm pretty much there. All I need is a solid week or two off of work and school... not to mention summer weather

I ended up biting the bullet and buying a set of Hertz Mlk165s. I've wanted them for a while now.
I'm excited for them to come in, they'll be replacing some Diamond Hex s600.
I say, if you have the money, get the Hertz!

Glad to hear you got the MLK's. I've had mine installed in my F150 for about six months, and I love them. I run them active, so I've never used the passive crossovers, and don't have any experience with them. I've put some really loud sounds through them accidentally when messing with my crossovers and various goofups, thinking I must have blown a tweeter or something, but it didn't even phase them, and I run 150 watts to each tweeter. These things are robust. I'd really like to hear what you think of them when you get them installed. Mine took a couple of weeks to break in, but they just sounded better each day. Good Luck.

But I do have to say the SRX2S is a golden amplifier.

I was at one point really considering the MLK 2, but then I realized that I have to pay for tuition
