I just had a customer that asked to have his head unit fused at the battery, stating it was a new requirement for SQ competition, can anyone elaborate on this?

Not that I have seen. Alpine, however, has in the last couple years recommended that their yellow lead be ran directly to the battery..

Good to see you around buddy - drop me a line eh?

If you are talking IASCA here is the rule

ALL electronics throughout the installation must be individually fused with appropriate value fuses. Chassis-mounted fuses on electronic equipment satisfy this requirement. Competitors must present photographs of (or physical access to) fuses for in-dash equipment. All fuses (except for source units and processor units mounted in the dash of the vehicle) must be readily accessible within 30 seconds and be able to be replaced within the five minute breakdown period. A judge may request that this be demonstrated and will not award points if it cannot be done. Custom-motorized installation elecments must be individually fused, unless two or more motors are used to operate the same drawer or rack, in which case a single fuse for multiple motors is acceptable. Multiple lighting elements may be fused by a single fuse with no deductions

No fusing requirements as described required in MECA or USACi

Thanks for the answers , in essence nothing special about the rules, just a matter of making repairs accessible to the owner from what I see.
Why do people get in a tizzy every time there's some change to the rules ? tsk tsk..

Good to see you too Dukk, I'll be emailing you this weekend.
I'm back at Speaker City.

^ why, because they are afraid of change, and spending money. They hear a rumor and jump right on it so they have something to complain about

Paul Niwranski 05-28-2004 01:29 PM

I hate when people complain about people complaining about rule changes
