noob looking for help

first off hi and thanks for haveing the site been looking a long time for a place like this.

I have a 03 Monte carlo SS
I wan tto set it up for S.Q. with audiobahn equipment. in a effort to attempt to get a sponsorship. or as far as that gose any manufacture. I just want to get my car in to a show where i cna say i have a show car. LOL
Right now it has won 2 trophies for the two shows i enterd it in to for best of show and pepoles choice. So i must be doing something right with it. But would liek to build a good system,

Need some help choseing what i would need for it to beabel to compete with it as i really like the clarity of a concert hall i would prefer it over just heavy bass.

So any sujestions of help on this would be great THANKS!!

Mickey

there's a few things u can do... first off not go with audiobahn. they're poo for SQ at least to win compititions. id go with brands like, PG, JL, clarion, and i'm sure ppl have other suggestions to go with but if u'r really looking to go high end, never go wrong with focal.

all seriously good brands but for sq in my opinion is Memphis, Kove and MB quart

not bad... minus memphis... never really liked them. we can throw in some herts, zapco, moral and audison to top off some more high end. and maybe some alpine. personally not a big fan again but i'm just extremely picky when it comes to speakers

If I can offer my two cents...

Go with what you like, and are happy with in YOUR car! Opinions from other people can help make a decision, but shouldn't dictate your decision on equipment. For example: have you hear of a PPI-2300 amp or a RF Punch 1000? These are awesome amps from the past...but not well known in todays circles.

If you want Audiobahn with cromey flames in your car go for it. Yes, lots of the names people have been saying on this post are good but can you hear the difference.

I do not think any one on this board can hear the difference between a PPI, Fusion, Alpine or Rockford amp of any quality. Speakers...that's another story. Run what you want...cheers!

thanks you for your input on all of this. Honestly the flames are not that big of a deal to me.

here is what i have to work with. a 2003 monte carlo SS
I have a hyponics 440 amp in it right now and then have two 12" alpine subs that are real low end. I want to upgrade that. Also i have a cheap cap in there and a optima yellow top bat. I have a amp kit that i bought that i made the lines my self and they are 4 ga. the box i have is Obicone

what i want.
Somethng that sounds really good, good highs, good lows and good mids.
suround sound if possibel for the DVD head unit i will some day get (still havent decided on one. but do liek the JVC and the Pioneer ones i have seen)

I want to add two screens to the head reast for the kiddos in the back seat and also would like to add one in the center up fron for me and the wife.
Also have a 15" flat screen monitor in the rear deck lid that i have plans for hooking up to my lap top while at shows.

I listen to everything from classical to rap and alot of old rock and some of the new stuff. some hard some not so hard.

Just need to figure out how to get the sound i want out of this car.
I have plans to do some sound deadning in it this summer when it gets warm enough to get it to mould with out craking.Liveing in Germany it is just now getting in to the lower 40-50 on some days but lots of cold wet rain still GRRR!

So this is what i have and what i can work with. now im trying to get something togeather to make the car sound real good and still not look like it is set up for just sound comp. I like that idea but i do drive the car it was not ever thought of just to leave it sit. So i plan to use it.

but i am truley new to this area of the auto world. so im willing to do about anythign to get what sound i want. I want to stand back and hear the car at a distance as clear as it can be. Volume would be nice bu not somthign ihave to have all the time one kind of gose with the other sometimes i know but i dont play it so loud you can hear it a block away but would like to have the ability to do so and still beabel to understand it.

i really need to know what kind of system i can put in to it to make all of this work for me . I would like to find a sponsor for the car. and to do so it has to be almost done or atleast planned out.

things i would like to see in it
dvd,mp3
at least the 3 screens mentioned above.
the trunk will be built for the box and or i will build the box to the trunk. not a big deal on that etheir way.
im going to finish it off to make it look nice and i can engrave flames in to it in the plexi or glass or what ever matirial needs to be used to make it right.

So agian i ask can anyone help? LOL

im hopless but im trying to learn this stuff and cant find the info on the net with outhaving to buy thier damed ebooks and frankly i dont trust alot of that stuff.
here i cant go to a book store and buy it as it would all be German and i cant speak or read it verry well. only here for a short time.

Thansk again for your help on this sorry so long:dunno:

Go and interview drivers that are in your pricepoint, or meet your needs... if you don't want to go from shop to shop, listening to speakers on a demo board that are going to sound different in your car, why not go to a show, where there are plenty of *hopefully* quality installs so that you can listen first hand and see what speaker set A will sound like installed???

I have gone and listend to sound bords but they have alot to be desierd.

Also over here i have not been to to many comps. for sq. most here are DB drags. so you dont have to many cars set up for the quality of sound more of the loudest and hardest bass you can find. Witch would be great if that is what i wanted.

Im not completly blind on this i have dones some home work but just trying to lear all i can on how to find the right set up for my needs i know wha ti want it to sound like. But i dont see to many monte carlos doing this stuff and over here im one of 15 in the country and i think im the only one in shows here. so that hurts to.

sq sytems are to the personal self, it seems to me that you know what you want, the only thing you have left is to start experimenting to find what you like.

sq is a science project of yourself, the best way to find out is to play it in your car the way you want it to be heard.

thanks for the help
One more question
is there like a base line of where to start?
or a brand that will produce the sounds better then another or a cleaner signal?
I really would like a indash DVD player of some sort. I tend to go twords Pioneer or Premier. but that is just i have had real good luck in the past with them.

Is it good to match thier speakers with thier head unit? I know they have a set of componets and some subs and also the 6x9 that i would need to fill up the factory holes i have now.

Or would it be better to use that head unit and a diffrent set of speakers?
I know i need ot match them with the RMS but do the same brands make a diffrence in the over all sound?
