noob questions about potential setup for S4

i have picked up a an 01 s4 avant (double din) and want a top notch system, i'm not going to do it all at once so for now my question is in regards to the head unit and potentially a processor...

i've been hearing different things, every shop i call has an opinion...of the stuff they carry...

i've read different things as well, a lot seems to be pointing towards the pioneer avic but i've owned alpine and eclipse in the past....personally, i'd like to go back to alpine as it just feels right for an audi...but i will go with the best option.

i will end up re-doing everything at some point, so pre-outs of a decent voltage are a must, but other than that i rally don't know...

thoughts???

thx

I am also an Alpine / Eclipse fan. I was very pleased with my Clarion head unit 'NX 501' that just came out, it certainly surpassed my double dinn Kenwood that would continually eat my CDs and suck.

Selective Sound.. Call Davis. He sponsors AudiForum.ca and deals with them often.

i've spoken with him, i'm looking for opinions of people in the "scene" not necessarily in the industry...
