Replacing 1 12" by 2 10" subwoofer
 

I currently have 1 infinity 122.7w 12" and I found that this is too boomy for the genres of music I'm often listening rock/metal/punk. I heard that 10" subs offers a quicker response than 12". I'm thinking about buying 2 kicker cvr10" to replace it. Is this a good choice? My amp is an infinity reference 1600a 600 watts rms.

"smaller subs are quicker" is a myth. The sub you have now is a decent performer. I'd suggest changing the box it's in.

^^agreed...what's the volume and type of box you currently have (ported, sealed, etc..)? I've got two 12's in a ported box and i listen to a lot of genres that have fast beats (d&b, electronic, prog house etc...)...it's tight, clean, and the impact is awesome!

Yep, Once I had a custom box made to spec it was night and day. The bass sounds the way it should now.

The sub is installed in a sealed box at 80hz-1/4 gain-bass boost to almost minimum... Is the crossover of the sub in my radio (pioneer fh800bt) should be the same as on my sub amp?

how big of a sealed box...volume (1, 1.5, 2 cubic feet)?

If it's too boomy than put it in a ported box. That way you can tune the boom to where you want.

If you're talking about the raw sound of the driver, as in it sounds too muddy/too warm than you'll need to change subs. Try an SQ sub or a XBL^2 driver.

There is a 300W RMS XBL^2 driver but I forget who makes it. CSS maybe? CCS?

You will definitely hear a difference between the 2 boxes.

Unfortunately you may not like it.....ported enclosures must be built for the driver in order to sound as good as they can. Tossing your sub in a box built for a different sub will give you an idea of how much louder it could get but not how good it can sound.....:ohwell:

Either build one yourself if you have the space and tools to do so or get a shop to build one for you....its the only way to hear what that sub is actually capable of....:smokin:

If you want to stay with a sealed box...that sub will work very well in a 1.0-1.5 cubic foot box (smaller for punchier sound 1 cube, larger deeper bass around 1.5 cubes) that is completely sealed (no leaks at all). Set you crossover at 100hz low pass and adjust from there if needed and only use one crossover...do not combine the amp's and the head unit's crossovers as this usually causes response issues.
