review: 15" kicker L7 vs JBL GTi
kicker solobaric L7 square sub. made a custom sealed 2.5 cu ft box stuffed to suit the floor of the car. played with it all summer.
JBL GTi . popped it in last night after making my square hole round. the difference motivated me to chime in.
the setup is super simple. running off my stock headunit through an Epicenter then amplified with a Precision Power PCX2400 bridged making 800 watts rms.
the jbl works at 6 ohm and the L7 4ohm so a little more gain on the amp for the jbl.
the L7 feels like its shoving at the frequency where the jbl is punching the sound. not as loud as the L7 but the jbl sure felt more accurate. when working the epicenter i can play the jbl alot lower still sounding tight where the L7 was boomy and harder to to dial in. overall the jbl played better and the difference was obvious. you know when you upgrade an item and really your hoping for the best. having had the kicker for 6months and the GTi for 2 days i was surprised that sound was much better and the efforts well worth it.
in hindsight a smaller box may reveal other differences but for this setup the JBL GTi was the easy winner

comparing the sq of a L7 and a GTI is like comparing a Hyundi Pony to
a Dodge SRT8 Challenger....LOL
the L7's get loud but the GTI is one of the most musically accurate
car audio woofers ever made
never a fan of square subs
blind folded or not I can pick out the sound of a square woofer
...they have a funny sound to them
