No worries guys I want all the opinions I can. If its your favorite amp I can research it. I just wish the winning competitors had their equipment listed. so I can compare them.

^ Adam is right - I often lack enthusiasm when it comes to amps. They all sound virtually identical really so once that is thrown out the window then what is left?
Power, cosmetics, features.
I've had cheap amps and I have had what was considered (and some still consider) the BEST SQ amps at the time as well. Basically, my best results have come from mainstream companies that build solid tolerant flexible amps. The amps I will be using this time around aren't overly popular and won't have many people oooh-ing and aaah-ing at them but I know they will do a great job

Sound and the way we hear it is subjective....if a judge gives you a crappy score because he says for example, your stage is too low....Don't worry about it, because chances are the next show you will score different again.
Not gonna point fingers or say names, but some judges can be really tough on your car...they'll pick it apart and deduct points for stupid things....this can be taken two ways, good or bad. It's good in that, if you know a judge doesn't like something, you can change it. It's bad because not all judges like the same things in install or the SQ portion of the event. It's not really fair IMO, because all the judges are supposed to be trained to look for the same things....but if a judge doesn't like your car, install or SQ, even though both are seamless, you're gonna score lower because of it.
That is total BS if you ask me, but that's the way it works.

Part of the comp. is in the sell. But if there is nothing to sell.... Personaly I had built my system for myself. I had joined compeating to learn. The bling is important but who are you building for? I like this and you may like that! I personaly use diferent settings for myself and say SQ judges.
Don't over analize every thing it will drive you nuts. Remember that most or all components will sound diferent in diferent cars. Instalation and tuneing are extemly important. Having the rules before hand is an added plus. But rules do change over time too. When compeating know the rules and your system. Trust me they like to put you on the spot and see what you know or what happens.
Do it because you enjoy it.There will allways be some one louder better ect. Keep it simple my friend.

I agree, considering the HU, keeping it simple and maintaining the target for SQ should be the primary concern.
I'd concentrate on the SQ of the speakers, and avoid loading the sub amp to maintain control and detail.
The box will make or break any sub you choose, and any decent amp will drive the system , the trick will be how they will all match YOUR audio pallette. Like cooking a meal, you can have the finest ingredients, but if overspiced and overcooked, your dog may not touch it.
And it's not always mainstream equipment that can sound good.
There are times I wish i could blindfold people when I give a listening test, so far every case I have shown customers they can trust their hearing to make a sound decision, and they can hear what difference some brands make with others.
