setting CDA-117 parametric eq -- looking for crisp drum kick

Just setting my gains, levels, etc. Also learning how to play with my new CDA-117 and all it's toys. It's running two 10" type Rs', in a sealed box, each sub has .8 cubes.

The one sound I'd like more of is a nice, crisp bass drum kick (I like metal). They're just sounding a bit 'soft'.

Is there a frequency I can dial in on the parametric to get this?

Frequency on the amp is set at about 65 right now. . .

You can try bumping 80hz a bit.

If you want really explosive bass drums then you better have some stellar midbass/midrange. The mallet slap is at more like 2500hz so you need to concentrate above the bass range.

Put some jam to your mids and you'll see.

as dukk said.. mid bass impact is between 100 and 250 but so is boominess, so be careful here.. lots of experimentation but within this 1.5 octaves you should be able to dial in some great midbass.

Nice chart. Probably the most complete of the few I've seen.

Love the chart! This is exactly what i've been looking for to help me set my crossovers and I found it on accident, thanks!
