Anyways MS8 seems to work fine and well for me without a center.
Of course it was better still with a center.

Make sure those guys know that when there is no center, they need to turn logic7 OFF.

Arc audio should have a processor out soon

I am fairly happy with the processor in my Zapco DC Reference

The alpine H700 has sounded great in every car I have heard it in (150 or so)

I dont think the H800 is released for N America yet!
I think it has some issues that still need to be worked out.
BUT...
There is someone on this forum selling an ALpine 701 with a remote RUX controller...you should check this out..it will do all that it seems you want to achieve, and its super easy to use/program
AND it has a spectrum analyzer which i think looks awesome.
Check out the Classifieds section...

I think your facts are a little off there ,my friend, I have seen plenty of winning competition vehicles from around the world both in person and online and I can assure not all competitors are running the dex-p99rs. I still see plenty of competitors running HU's from Alpine, especially the F#1 Status in certain parts of europe and asia, Denon and a few other types as well. This is not to knock the P99 or its brother the P01 I actually happen to think they are fantastic HU's but to make a blanket statement like "this thing is better then anything out there" when I would be willing to bet that you havent had the chance to use and experience all the other units on the market for yourself is just unfair and a bit biased. Remember now, just because a certain unit works well for you and even for certain other people out there doesnt make it the last or only answer for top end SQ source/processing units, there are a number of tested and true top end units on the market right now and it just comes down to what you like and what your looking for.

I listened to the P99 and Alpine (and Denon, McIntosh,...) top end units, and they are all wonderful. The P99 is easier in terms of installation because it is an "all-in-one solution", that will accommodate most DIY'ers. I just simply prefer the F#1 status and the look, feel, sound of the Alpine head units. The F#1 Status 9990 and the H990 processors do take time and patience to install
compared to the one-box Pioneer (I've installed both P99 and 9990).
Either one can quarterback championship systems, both are proven winners, no matter what format (EMMA, IASCA, etc), it all comes down to personal preference...mine happens to be Alpine!

I am very wary of the F#1 status quality control on their last HU, the failure rate (OLED) was significant and Alpine did not step up and cover their top-of-the-line customers. I also was going to go the F#1 route but once the controller displays started failing I stayed clear

It is a valid concern, especially since the units themselves are considerably older compared to all the hot new stuff! Many units have dates of manufacture in the neighbourhood of a decade if I'm right. My units have dates of manufacture in the 2005 year and that is considered late in the manufacture cycle.

I think, for myself at least, it seems that I am enamoured with the Alpine brand because it is what I wanted so badly back in the day when I was in high school and university. Lately it seems that the quality and customer service may be lacking in comparison to what it used to be. I think Alpine itself may have changed ownership hands...so that may explain the crappy customer service with the failing displays!
I have had no problems with my F#1 Status stuff so far, and I'm keeping my fingers crossed!

the only problem with the F#1 series is that display issue but i found that i hated using the remote and display, and as long as you are using an alpine head unit you can control the basic presets using the deck, so you just have to tune with your laptop and you can change your presets with the deck
