SQ Time Alignment
 

Hey Everyone,

what i got:
2002 Civic SIR
Pioneer Z120BT
Focal 165 VR3 - Powered by Helix H400
Nakamichi 12" sub - Powered by Focal FP2.150


Unfortunately, when picking a head unit, I was not paying attention to the capabilities of Time Alignment or Time Correction. The system I got now sounds great.... however I want more! I want to get all the frequencies dialed in and most importantly get a front stage. Or in other words the voices coming from the dash without a centre channel. It want it sounding rich and vibrant... not crazy bass!

Now... I've come up with several different scenarios:

#1 Buying a Kenwood Excelon with Digital Time Correction
#2 Buying an Alpine W910 with a Alpine Processor with imprint Technology, either the H660 or H650
#3 Just buying the H660 or H650 and hook it up to my current deck.... This is my primary choice because I like the Pioneer Z120, aside from not having Time Correction.

Soooo taking the route of just buying a processor and hooking it up to my current HU. Is this possible? If so, is it worth it? I'm looking for ultimate SQ.

Kenwood Excelon Digital Time correction is far from accurate.

JBL MS8, Audison Bitone, Arc PS8(coming soon) will fit the bill for processors. Forget the Alpine66- - look at their H800 for more features and control
Stick with what you have - changing decks will give you minimal results!! Been there done that!!!

Is it worth it to put the money into a processor? Will i notice that much of a difference?

Also, i was just thinking the Alpine units because of the Imprint System... So it tunes automatically.

Nope still Immortal and a genius. :laugh::worshippy:p My outlook on how to achieve SQ vs. eaks77 and yours is different. To hear a difference in decks(there are just like amps) there are other steps that need to be done first in a car that I assume isn't an important approach to eaks77 or u :)

Hey I got a Alpine h660 Processor. I got it for my car then had it wrote off in a accident so I had it in the car for only 4 weeks. It is back in the box in mint shape with brand new wire harnesses. If you are interested email back.

maybe I'm old school, but speaker positions used to be the holy grail in front stage imaging....Time Alignment processors just made it a bit better.

so just relying on poorly positioned speakers and then using the digital time alignment is counter productive.

^Depends on your goals. Ideally you want both optimised at their best of course.

BUT, if you value your utility, space and stealthness then you have to compromise and that's where processing comes in to save the day. Plus with such things as logic 7, speaker positionning becomes less important for great sound all around. Stereo, really, is no good for a car.

I just haven't got into digital processing. Maybe the next car build, as my current car is 11 years old. Back then it was position, kick panels and trying to achieve equal distance.

I noticed most high end builds just put tweeters in A-pillars now and employ a Bit One from Audison
