Stereo Integrity 12" Magnum D2 vs two 12" TC Sounds TC-1000

Hello, guys! I have a pretty decent SQL set up and I think I am ready for a change. Currently, I have a single 12" MagD2 at 4 ohms powered by bridged Fosgate Punch 800.2 ( birthsheet states around 950 wrms ). This is the best sub I have ever owned. The woofer sounds very clean, and has nice force behind it. Sound quality is very important to me, I also like a nice punch to it, and the sound has to be balanced. You know exactly what I mean :)

Anyways, if anyone has experience or heard anything about TC-1000's. I am looking to get two 12's to replace the Mag and will power it with the same amp at 4 ohms. Basicly, I am looking to get more output, but do not want to sacrifice on SQ, as Mag is amazing. Oh, and I listen to mainly trance and house.

What are your thoughts SQL team?

BTW, I will appreciate if you won't try to suggest other SQL subs, as I am familiar with ID, RE, Adire, JL, ED, Peerless, Ascendant, etc.

Just noticed you said 2 subs instead of one -comment withdrawn-

stereo integrity mag 12s are hawt.

i'd take a pair of them over the tc's i think though, with the right power, those things can get loud

df.dima Feb 23, 2007 04:47 PM

Well duh of course a pair would get loud. And would cost quite a bit too + the additional power. :smokin:

Theoretically two TC1ks can move more air than 1 Mag, but I wouldn't just switch it out. I'd rather prefer 1 quality sub than two of the lesser. Not like TC1ks with their TC2+ motor are shitty, they are pretty fugin good, but I'd rather leave the mag in.

Another idea might be going with a 15Mag. :dunno:

btw what gen Mag do u have?

I have a second generation Mag, and I think it's around 35 pounds. I don't wanna get much heavier, and don't want to get bigger amplifiers with my re-wired 120 amp alternator. So two Mags are out. Two TC1000's are around 40 pounds. Right now, TC1000's are on sale direct from the company for $119/each. That's half price! I am curious about the motor technology. And TC Sounds Rep said, that TC2000 is in the same class as the Mag. So I figure, two of the one step lower subs would do good. Apparently TC2000(800 wrms) is solid for SQ, and is loud. I hope and don't think that TC1000(400 wrms) is worse for SQ, just takes less power. I had two crappier JLW0's, and they were considerably louder, that one Mag, but Mag is still better on all other accounts.

My other option was one 12" DIYMA(900 wrms), which requires a tiny box, but need to be sealed. So, I figure I could save a lot of trunk space, but with this set up, I think I would be stepping down with output.

So, with this nice sale on TC's I am very curious. It would be interesting to see two TC2K's, but than I would rather not experiment, and get two Mags. But the weight and power requirement is a huge turn off. So, I am probably gonna get the two TC1K's, but I wanted to hear some opinions.

If ya aren't afraid to experiment, sure get the 1Ks. They will surely pump more. They will probably have different sound characteristics to them too.
Don't forget to chime back in when you do the swap to share your impressions .

I didn't happen to notice you mention a enclosure type for your current setup. If you haven't got it ported yet that should be your first change before switching out any gear.

Thanks for your replies... My Mag is ported in 3 cubes @ 28 hrz.

IMO I would sell your Mag and goto two 12" SI BM's. Gives you more cone area and still the great sound of SI and without adding to much weight if any. You have already said you like the SQ of your MAG so why change companies?

Additional power means additional cost. If you can spend as much for a great headbanging sound, why not?
