Question stock sound better?

hey all
i have had a question i havent had answers to, maybe you guys can help. i have a kenwood headunit that was brand new last year, not sure of the model number but it was almost 400 bucks. anyways i notice that the bass only in my speakers really sucks. if i were to put the stock radio back in the bass would be back, are these head units designed to work so the speakers give crisp sound and the subs crank the bass? i have tried ever setting and messed with all the filters within the headunit and it doesnt seem to do much!

any help?

the speakers are made to be economical and cheap.
when they come from the factory, most factory decks put out 5-10Wmax. and your aftermarket deck will do 10-20WRms. so if you want better sound from your speakers, get new ones.

or if you wanna deal with it, up the trebel and lower the bass.

What he said... but it might help to know your car? some factory speakers are better then above average aftermarket speakers. Take Tsunami systems from VW/Audi, put an amp or a quality deck on those and... wow. Or even bose systems in older luxury japanese models.

yup, those are nice systems. even the monsoon in gm's, the rf systems in the mitsu's, and the infinity's in lancers get a goot thump going to them.

does the deck have onboard high pass crossovers? if so, try changing them.

many stock systems have equalization built in to the circuitry. I've noticed many stock systems have more bass at lower volumes, where most "normal" people listen, than at higher volumes. Your aftermarket deck is probably much more linear in it's output(no boost at lower frequencies or volumes). Initially at lower volumes it will sound thinner, but remember that aftermarket units are designed to be more accurate and usually amps, subs, etc... are added to bring the full spectrum of sound to life...accurately!
