I;m just not sure which way to go with my front stage. two way, 3 way. custom set up or buy a component set???
This is what I have to work with right now.
3 alpine type R 10,s in a sealed box.
1 alpine m1000. running the subs.
1 alpine 540 for the front stage.(80x4@4ohm)
1 PPI deq 230, 31 band 1/3octave EQ.
3 one farad caps.
and my front satage will be...???
I'm looking for SQ. I'm also going to be compeating in IASCA this coming year. So post up and tell me what you think. I'm getting sick of running around listening to speakers in a store. Most sound different once installed. Let me know

i have always heard good things about the infinity components. they aren't that expensive on ebay. i have a set of panasonics, and i am still surprised at how decent they were for the price.

It all depends how much you want to spend, I've always been a big fan of the focal polykevlar and utopia line of components. CDT also makes some nice speakers you should look into.

What sort of budget are you looking at?

freeride_ca 12-29-2003 03:33 PM

i was looking into the CDT. stuff?? Im'looking at between 6&7 hundred for the front stage. I've had people tell me to use a 2 way and others say 3 way. What is the best choice and why?
Has any one used the canadian loud speaker stuff. I think it's the max fedelity line? It's gotten good reviews and you don't see it every day.

Take a look at the alpine spx, either the two way (i have the 5 1/4 )or the 3way..installed a set in a 95 civic ..6 in the door and 5&tweet in custom kicks...sounds amazing...

I would suggest a three way set because I like a dedicated midrange.
A good 6.5 comp set can be excellent also.
IMO, listen to as many sets as possible and decide from there.

All the speakers in my car are CDT Audio minus my Eclipse sub.

They sound amazing.. If you were near me id say you could take a listen, you would love em.

If you have the space to install a 3-way set properly then go that way, GCA has the 642 set on sale right now. I have this set installed in my car right now and it sounds amazing although I still have to redo parts of my install.

Lots of good choices.

those alpine spx's are good speakers.. they are scan's in disguise ;)

cdt has a solid line for almost all levels of listeners... email me if you need some help with cdt....

hmmm 2 way or 3 way.... up to you...... its easier to work with a 2 way setup and depending on drivers i would opt for a 2 way setup.....

I've always used 2-way sets, however if it can be accomodated by your car, a quality 3-way set will give you some nice results. If I had more space in my doors, I'd love to run a larger midbass driver.

If you can get a quality 2-way set in some kickpanels, you won't be disappointed. The install makes all the difference.
