Time Correction
 

Hi,

I need some assistance in setting up the time correction function within the Alpine H701 processor. I am running a 3-Way active front stage with 2 subwoofers in the rear of my vehicle.

I would like to know how I can compute the time correction for each individual speaker (i.e. what distances I should measure, formulas etc)

I would rather not purchase the RUX 701 controller unit with time correction microphone.

You don'e need a mic. You can measure the distance from the left to your left speakers to you left ear and right to right. Then convert that to time buy divideing it into the speed of sound (1125ft ft/s). But really all you need to do is is find a track with a good center image and tune by ear.

Just remember, you dont need to use TA on the speaker that is furtherest from you. That is your referance point for al the other speaker.

Hey Avidedtr, I see your lurking. I'm trying to configure a good preset for Pink Floyd. What crossovers would you recommend? The singers got a relatively deep voice and I'm finding the stage falls sometimes.

What slopes should I use for sub-base, 6 or 24?

24 seems a little high, the 701 allows you to do 6, 12, 18 and 24 if im not mistaken. I would try it on 12 and see how that sounds. What frequency do you currently have it crossed over at?

Jordan, Play with your xover points until you are satisfied. It's probably dropping because the 6's are playing too high. Turn off your 6's listen to the 4's alone with the L1Pros then start your crossover highpass at 250 and go down from there. Don't go any lower then 125hz at 24 db cause you could damage the L4.
Turn your 6's back on and drop the low pass to 100 make sure your high pass doesn't go down below 60hz at 24db. try up to 160 to 200 on the low pass and see if that helps. My guess is once you get the right frequency try a differnet low pass slope on the L6's and see if it drops your stage.

L4 125hz @ 24db to 5.6k @ 24 db
L6 70hz @24db to 140hz @ 24db
Sub 70hz @ 18db
