I'm pretty set on one of these two 12" subs.

I'll take the type R if it's decent for my application.

I'm just a daily driver, listen to all types of music..I want the sub to hit hard but keep up with my faster music.

I was offered teh type x for 500 and the type r for 280. Which one should I choose?

I've got enough $$ for either but I don't want to blow the cash if I don't need to and I assume if I want to use the full capability of the type x i'll need a 500+ mono amp as well..

maybe the the type x 10" would be better for my application and a little bit cheaper?

I've heard the type x sub is very inefficient. I have a friend with 2 type r's, he likes them, listens to rap and music with heavy bass.

For the price difference, and what you are looking for, i would buy the type r, and investthe money i have saved into a nice amp.

at $500 the X is a good deal for a loud SQ woofer but is it worth 2x the price of the R? Tough call

Can I change how tight the bass hits with the box I use? Because if so I can get the type r 12"..if it's not loud enough i can always upgrade and if it is then i save a wack of $$.

what size amps do you have for type x a 1000rms amp each is recommended, in a sealed box 1.2 cubed ea sounds nice for fast paced music...

How much do quality 1000rms amps go for? If it's over 600 that's too much.

the type shares alot of the same technology as the x, the perimiter venteing, shorting plates, the surround. the big difference is in the cone materials and voice coil. the r has a similar sound but without the massive power handling of the x. the x10" and 12" are very good woofers vented and the power requirements arent as huge in vented as compared to sealed. i have had great success with both but for the money you cant lose with the r, if you want a bit more bada$$ the type x can do amazing things

I think I'll go with the 12" r to start. Thanks for all the responses.

Ok I have a choice of a 2ohm type r or a 4 ohm type r. P6001bd is rated 600 watts @ 2ohms. Can an amp have a 100+ watts than the subs rated rms if it is within the subs peak watts?

Is there any downside to getting the 2ohm sub over a 4ohm sub?
