IDMAX12 in rear, planning on another one soon, FOCAL 165K2P in doors. Was looking to buy a set of Image CX64 to put in the center console-dash area to bring more sub/mid bass to the front but was told buy dealer that I'd be better off with an IDQ10 or ID8 and now I'm looking at the Focal mini subs as well. Want to keep it either focal or image in a sealed enclosure. Any suggestions from a SQ point of view?

your plan is a good one, any of the woofers youve mentioned will work very well. up front woofers is a very good thing to do. its is near impossible to get up front bass without up front woofers, in fact of all the vehiucles ive heard over the years i have yet to hear one with woofers in the back that didnt sound like they were in the back at some point during listening. the focla mini subs are a proven winners but your other choices are great as well, a canadian company called avi precision loudspeakers has just released their own 5.25" subwoofer and ive teste them and they are every bit as good as the focal. you can contact audiochamber on this forum and he can put you on to someone who can give you more information than i am allowed to on this public forum

the ID8 is what I'm using, it's a great little sub, with a low FS, which means that it'll get very low without a lot of effort

Depends if you want midbass or subbass. Midbass would not do well in a console because it is in stereo. subbass would be great. The id cx64 is a midbass driver so don't use it. If you can fit a 8" in the console do it! bigger the better. I've found using great midbass up front and woffers in back and PROPER xo points CAN acheive bass that seems to come from the windsheild.
cheers!

Focal also has a dedicated midbass driver (6K3P)
maybe look into that

I contacted AVI about thier 5.25 mini sub and some woman phoned me and had no idea what I was talking about and asked me where I heard about such a sub! I wrote back today and now they send me the specs for a 5.25 mini sub. But I wonder if they are any better than the Focal for the price?

Elemental Designs recently announced their Eu-700 6.5" mini woofer. 13mm Xmax, 0.3 cubes sealed, 0.5 cubes vented. Final price is supposedly going to be $85US shipped, and even cheaper if you sign up for the initial group buy.

I checked out those links and e-mailed them. Are you familiar with this brand, and the group buy? Who sells them in Canada?

are you wanting something like dedicated mids or actual sub bass? if you want dedicated mids, you could always try an Adire Koda, or the Adire Extremis (one of the better output mids on the market). of course, there's always the Resonant Engineering XXX which i believe has amongst the best output amongst 6.5" drivers and has 13 mm one way xmax (that's a ton for a 6.5" driver).

i noticed you asked about ED (elemental designs). here's the thing with ed, while they were very popular for a while and are gaining popularity again, i think they took a big nose dive after the preorder incidents as well as the problem with the 15A's that was denied. also, (i don't personally know this) but apparently the owner lies to most customers and all the products are just rebadged and made by another company. aside from the problem with the 15A's, i have never heard any serious issues product wise.
